Why doesn't anyone fight the ACLU?

Posted on 11/19/2004 5:52:49 PM PST by Bones75

Or why do so few do so anyway? Why does it always seem like every time they trample all over somebody, people just lie down and take it?

I understand it can get expensive, and the ACLU doesn't fight fair, using the typical "agree with us or we'll just sue you into oblivion anyway" tactic, but isn't there SOMEBODY out there who can stand up to these people?

I just read that they ran right over the Boy Scouts again, (real noble, jerkoffs) and now this new gripe they have with the mention of God on some safe sex website... which now they will probably just remove from the site and cower in the face of the big bad lawyers. (Not that I don't sympathize with them if that's what happens, lawyers are extremely dangerous and can ruin you)

I am dissapointed at how the city of L.A. just laid down and let the ACLU Mack truck make tire tracks across their forehead, most likely against the will of the vast majority of the people. You mean to tell me the city of L.A., one of our largest cities, has that small of a backbone?

Legal experts out there, question. Isn't there a charge that can be used in court, civil or criminal, that is called something like "malicious litigation" or something to that effect? Is there such a thing? Isn't just about everything the ACLU does malicious litigation?

Is it that people are afraid of what they will be branded negatively by standing up to a group with "civil liberties" in their name? The ACLU has nothing to do with civility, and definitely nothing to do with liberty.

I know some people will say "What are you, ANTI civil liberties or something???"

Well what if I start a group.. and what my group does is we take elderly and infirm people and toss them off a freeway overpass into rush hour traffic below, and I can call my group "The Fairness and Generosity Foundation".. Then, if people oppose my throwing of the elderly into traffic, I can say "What are you AGAINST FAIRNESS and GENEROSITY?!"

I know there are some groups that do stand up to the schoolyard bully that is the ACLU. But there needs to be more and we need to support them.

They will run over you and me, too, the FIRST chance they get.

I am not claiming to have all the answers here, but if someone has a good idea, I will support it in any way that I can.

It's a shame that we've come to the point where we have to fight AGAINST a orignization named the American Civil Liberties Union in order to defend our civil liberties. Has the whole world gone mad?

I guess so, since according to the ACLU, fighting for civil liberties means: "You can't do this! You can't do that! You can't say this! Take that cross down, change your town seal!! You can't do that!! You can't say that!! You can't help the boy scouts!!! No manger scene on Christmas!! nyaa nyaa nyaa.."

Their idea of liberty means total conformity?? What gives??

The ACLU is like the Gerry Cooney of the legal world. They pick their opponents well and then win through the intimidation brought about because of their deep coffers.
They will not take on anyone that has real money and lawyers on their side.

The Thomas Moore law center is one group that looks like they could be problematic for the ACLU.

These lowlife, subhuman, socialist-commie-nazi-fascist-liberal-demokkkRATs are truly The Enemy Within™, and richly deserve being *taken down* and prison.

Yeah, I kind of like Savage's idea of using the RICO statute on them.

If there ever was an organized gang of criminals, they are it.

The way to beat the ACLU is to sue them. They are an easy target and it wouldn’t be that expensive to hit them in all 50 states. You wouldn’t have to spend a lot to force them to spend a ton of their resources answering suits.

The best defense is………..

If this ACLJ, or the Thomas Moore orginization, are the best bet to help fight the ACLU, I have no problem throwing them a few bucks when I get paid, if that's the way I can do my small part for the sake real and true liberty. If getting out there with a sign is the way to go, I can do that too. I just don't want to be the only one.

http://www.thomasmore.org/

I find it amusing that they're based in ultra liberal Ann Arbor.

You make a great point.

However this leads me to ask the question... the city of Loas Angeles doesn't have real money and lawyers?

The best way to beat the ACLU is get the whacky liberals out of the judiciary!

They'll stop taking cases, when they find they can't win them.

Yes you are right the ACLJ does a good job! They are the only law group who I really think knows what our civil liberties are!

So do I, but he had Judge Bork on last week, and he said that was a bad idea; wouldn't go anywhere. "Arkancide" is the way to go...
