1. Kurt Cobain wrote some of the greatest and most creative music ever written, and it is often said that he was very intelligent. I've even heard him referred to as "painfully wise". How did he get to be so wise? Did he go to college? Did he read a lot of books?
2. Those hauling trucks you see out on the interstate from time to time, the ones that haul dirt and rocks - they often have signs that say "not responsible for broken windshields" on their bumpers because their payloads often trickle out the back of the truck as they zip along at 75 mph. Can they really not be held responsible just because they have a sign? Can I get in my car and throw golf clubs out the window, and not be responsible as long as I just have a sign that says "not responsible for broken windows"?
3. Savage likes to criticize Limbaugh for giving W too many free passes. Is this because Limbaugh knows he can't criticize W on prime time radio with 20 million listeners if he ever expects liberalism to be defeated, or is it because Limbaugh is afraid to criticize W?
Thanks and I'll hang up and listen. You can respond to any of the questions or all of them.
1. Kurt Cobain wrote some of the greatest and most creative music ever written, and it is often said that he was very intelligent. I've even heard him referred to as "painfully wise". How did he get to be so wise? Did he go to college? Did he read a lot of books?
No, Yes, Maybe.
If Kurt Cobain was so "painfully smart", why did he decide to take the Hemingway out and eat a 12 gauge shotgun?
Jack.
1. Cobain was an uneducated dolt, as conclusively shown by his diaries. His syntax, diction, and spelling were so bad as to disqualify him from most white collar jobs, and his thoughts were shallow, morose, self-hating, self-pitying, and self-destructive. Cobain's success was due not to any wisdom but to the coincidence that his personal pathology expressed the angst of the latchkey kid generation, the neglected and ill-raised offspring of the me generation.
2. No -- unless local laws absolve the truckers, which is unlikely. They mostly rely on getting by through bluffing (which explains the signs), the difficulty of proof, and the expense of hiring a lawyer to bring a case.
3. Limbaugh has criticized w on some issues, such as on campaign finance reform and excess spending. Savage is a wild man, expressing his sense of outrage and often blathering about "truth" as if he was bottling and selling it. Your question recognizes that Limbaugh (correctly, in my view) sees himself as an avatar of conservatism, explaining how the opposition thinks and setting out effective responses for our side.
Ah yes... ranks right up there with "Ave Maria" and "Danny Boy"... a sample of his work:
Fill me in no your new vision.Brings a tear to my eye everytime I read it.
Wake me up with indecision.
Help me trust your mighty wisdom.
Yes I eat a cow. I am not proud.
Show me how you question, question.
Lead the way to my temptation.
Take my hand and give it cleaning.
Yes I eat a cow. I am not proud.
Easy as an easychair. P**p as hard as rock.
I don't like you anyway. Silly little f**ks.
(D*mn) you. (D*mn) you...aaaahh! aaaah!
That's from Mr. Moustache right? I think the lyrics are:
Fill me in on your new vision
Wake me up with indecision
Help me trust your mighty wisdom
Yes i eat cow- i am not proud
Show me how you question question
Lead the way to my temptation
Take my hand and give it cleaning
Yes i eat cow - i am not proud
Is he in his easychair?
Poop as hard as a rock
I don't like you anyway
Seal it in a box
All new
Damn you (x3)
Your point is still well taken. Cobain's brilliance was in his music, not necessarily in his lyrics.
