Ummmm.... didn't I just see a story on Channel 5 news last night that this is now illegal??
They interviewed a woman who got a ticket for letting her car warm up in her own driveway!!
I wonder if he actually locked the door. Lots of people say they did when they didn't because they are embarrased to have been so dumb.
Not only should he get a ticket, he should reimburse the county for damages and/or loss since Jon Q Public gets dinged if the motor is running while unattended.
Blaming the victim? How typical. I guess these car thieves just can't help themselves.
There was a story earlier about Florissant having a law against this same thing!
I never lock my car doors when its warming up. Its an old car with a stick shift I don't think a lot of these young, punk car thieves have ever seen a clutch pedal or know what its for.
No wonder there is no money to issue Right-to-Carry permits in the county.
(sarcasm off)
No kidding? I've broke the law every morning this week.
This is a stupid law to just make the politicians and their criminal friends feel better.
yes, I believe it was made illegal last year.
"There was a story earlier about Florissant having a law against this same thing!"
I think the neighborhood should dictate your habits on this. If I lived in Northwoods, no way would I leave my car unattended and running ( locked or not ).
Certain areas of Florissant I would be leary of as well.
This happens every year when it gets cold. You would think people would learn.
One way to prevent this is to just install "The Club " on your steering wheel while you warm up your car. Thieves won`t mess around to long in daylight in front of your house to try and take a car. The devises also make good weapons you can legally keep on your floorboard. : )
I leave mine running to warm up all the time. But I leave for work at 0245, theres not many people out at that hour. On the other hand, I live in the neighborhood in Florissant that hosted the "Garage Sale" shooting last spring, so I probably shouldnt do it at anytime..
It's illegal in St. Louis County...can we say STUPID LAW??
Next thing you know we'll have to get a permit to grill out...
