Word For The Day, Day, Date
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
prosaic
adj ;pro·sai·cal·ly adv. ; pro·saic·ness n.
1: not fanciful or imaginative; "local guides describe the history of various places in matter-of-fact tones"; "a prosaic and unimaginative essay" [syn: matter-of-fact] 2: lacking wit or imagination; "a pedestrian movie plot" [syn: pedestrian, prosy, earthbound] 3: not challenging; dull and lacking excitement; "an unglamorous job greasing engines" [syn: commonplace, humdrum, unglamorous, unglamourous]
Etymology: Late Latin prsaicus, from Latin prsa, prose. See prose
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Here is my example with WFTD.

No pushing at the door please!
another day another $.
hmmmm. I always thought "prosaic" was similar to "laconic", which dosn't necessaraly imply lack of wit at all.
prosaic definitely connotes dull and boring, flat.
hi
h9oala
Well, I guess I learned something in the classroom today, then. ;)
you talk funny.
Barbara Boxer weeping alligator tears over non-existant Republican fraud? How prosaic...just another Democratic leader pulling the strings of their lunatic fringe base...
The prozaic that was prescribed is much too small a dosage to be effective. Scripts should be filled by the jarfull, not one at a time!
oops.... wrong word,,, never mind. :-)
i am humbled that i could possibly contribute one little iota of knowledge to you, oh mr. 700 IQ ;')
oh you are not! anything but!
A+++ don't cry for me....barbara boxer!; )

I wish.........
John Kerry's prosaic demeanor and mind numbingly boring oratory were just two of the infinite reasons he got his clock cleaned in November..
I'd say you were much more antisaic.
A+++ that is so true! prosaic AND condescending and boring. fatal combo that.
