I never watch this show(not into this type of show) but caught the opening scene tonight. It was Law & Orders apparent direct usage of real talk radio show hosts real life dramas. They created a talk radio host who is a mix between Howard Stern with his FCC problems and a pill popping Rush Limbaugh. Unreal. Two headed hedra. They even showed a scene where the radio host goes into his kitchen where he encounters his latin/hispanic maid asking if she has it(the pills) after he rummages through cabinet where a line of pill bottles set. Guess real news makes for good tv story segments nowadays. Beats working for a living.
I saw this show once when I went to Washington for a week. The episode I saw was where an enlisted man in the Army is convicted for shooting an embedded report that was openly against Operation Iraqi Freedom. At the end the police detectives find out that the reporter took the man's side arm when he was embedded and had someone shoot him. Nope no liberal propaganda there.
It was a terrible episode. It's tough to write as many good scripts as they did. Some of them are stinkers like this one.
The last episode I saw had the DA played by Fred Thompson firing the obligatory blonde chick because she was too weak to be a good DA. She asked if it was because she was a lesbian? Where did that come from?
So, if I get fired, I'm going to ask was it because I am a lesbian?
It suggests a really messy soap opera story line about wrongful termination. Yuck.

laughing..man how do I get one of those tv writing gigs. My resume doesn't qualify me but from what I've been seeing on tv the writers aren't qualified either.
Are you shocked by this. It's business as usual in liberal Hollywood-land. I say give the libs this bone, they lead a miserable life. I had to council two of my customers that were on the verge of a breakdown. The election has been over 60 days and they are falling apart. They have hope for some 11th hour miracle on Jan 20.

Nope just sharing the unoriginal writing hilarity I witness
Dick Wolf has built a profitable franchise out of L&O. They use the phrase "ripped from the headlines" to advertise their shows.
"ripped from the headlines" which translates into "unoriginal" and why I don't bother watching Law & Order type sshow when I've already heard the stories on the morning and evening news. Repetition is a pet peeve.
The shows usually have a twist which has little to do with the original headlines. Some of the shows are interesting. Frankly, I would be interested to know what you find as original.
"Frankly, I would be interested to know what you find as original."
Answer: You taking the precious moments out of your illustrious existance to be interested in what lil ole me thinks. (raises eyebrow)
Try to calm down and lower your brow. I'm just interested in what you think is original. I don't see much out there that is.
Wow, looks like sunnyside woke up on the wrong side...:-)
"ripped from the headlines" which translates into "unoriginal"
Not so.
The premise may originate with headlines.
But, I assure you, the show tonight.....
the subject of this thread..............
was VERY original.
"...caught the opening scene tonight."
So...you posted a thread about the opening of the show?
You didn't watch the entire show?
Did you see this particular episode, new cruelty?
I just started watching L&O a couple of months ago.
IMO, it's one of the very few shows worth watching.
In fact, I haven't watched network TV for a couple
of years until I was told about L&O...all of them. ;o)
I've seen this particular episode twice now. Not that I am a huge fan of the L&O shows (my wife is the bigger fan), I just had the TV on and the episode made for good background noise.
I like all of the L&O shows, SVU most and CI least. I was tickled when Serena was fired on the original series last week. One of the many things I noticed about these shows is that the writers expend most of their efforts in fleshing out the plot and less time on fleshing out the regular characters. So I thought it was, in many ways, humorous when Serena came out of the closet by asking Fred Thompson's character (the DA) if she was being fired because she was a lesbian.
As for sunnyside's rail against unoriginality, I remain interested in learning if there is anything truly original out there.
Oh, I meant to add,... I only started watching about 2, maybe 3, years ago. I had no idea the original series has been on for so many years (I forget how many years, though I know it is more than 10).
"So I thought it was, in many ways, humorous when Serena came out of the closet by asking Fred Thompson's character (the DA) if she was being fired because she was a lesbian."
That made me LOL. ;o)
I wondered where THAT came from.
It was certainly a surprise to me.
It's going to be interesting to see where they take it.
At least, though, we know more about Serena.
Maybe, now, we know TOO much about Serena. ;o)
My initial thought was that the actress wanted more money, a larger part, etc. and the producers decided to give her character the axe, not only by firing her, but by outting her as a lesbian. Then again, perhaps Serena will return in a future episode to sue the DA.
I didn't see the ending where she said was a lesbian. Here in Texas, we saw the alternate ending where she asked if she was being fired because she was a conservative Christian.
I think this ending was more believable. I want to vote for it as my favorite.
Welcome to Free Republic.
Where are you in Texas?
I have family there.
I'm confused...which ending was more believable?
