Hip is a tough area to protect. My dog is prone to licking her leg, and I wrap it with vetwrap and duct tape to keep her from pulling it off.
Have you tried Bitter Apple spray? I works to deter some dogs, but some of them lick anyway.
I cleaned it up with the same tuf I use to prevent dermal wounds on the son.
I keep calling Kolbe, Waui which is my black Lab of the past. Waui had hot spots due to skin allergies.
Hey I wonder if a benidryl would help.
