There are lots of great craft Ideas for Cub Scout and Girl Scouts here. There is a small cost but hey, .... as they always say

if you get pais to work you're an employee, if you work for nothing you're a volunteer, if you pay to work and like it you must be a adult scout leader.

Over time, I've built and continue to build one of FR types that were interested in Scouting, not necessarily scout leaders that I'll be happy to send you if you'd like.

Our Cubs have been a couple of good crafts so far this year. They've made bubblegum dispensers - some of which were placed in local stores to raise money to pay postage to send blankets to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan - and they've also made a lamp recently, too. My boys haven't finished their lamps, though, because Mom's been battling the flu here. These look like an old-fashioned water pump and the pump handle is attached to a chain that turns the lamp on and off by lifting or lowering the "pump" handle. I'm not sure where the troop leader got the plans for these - maybe at one of our area Scout Stores?

We just finished our annual Pinewood Derby race, too, which the boys really enjoyed. We only have a small troop (13 boys) but they enjoy Scouting a lot.

I was the leader of the Wolf Cubs last year, but I'm not leading this year because my son moved up to Bears and the Bear leader from last year stayed on. My youngest will be a Tiger Cub next year. He's attended every meeting of the Wolves last year and the Bears this year, though, so he already knows everything from the Bobcat Trail.

We had a district Cub Winter camp that was Race Car Themed. On the last day we had 3 NASCAR Drivers come with their cars to hand out the PWD kits. Even had 7 Girl Scouts at winter Camp to run a "Tot-Lot" for the moms with younger children that wanted to be with the Cubs on the Camp Days. Our the Dist PWD isn't until Mid March and we'll have an Antique Car Gear Heads do the judging and they'll have a couple of their cars there for the boys (the Dads) and the Scouts to admire.

Our NSS club edited and updated the Space Exploration handook My contribution was the section where a Scout would use everyday items from the recycle bin to build space craft, space stations and extraterrestrial colonies.

Before we included it in the handbook I visited a Cub Scout meeting with my camera and a recycle bin. The cubs loved the challenge. Some hot glue a raid on Den Mom's kitchen for some aluminum foil and the results were outstanding. Pringles potatoe chip cans, 2 liter soda bottles, the caps from margarine tubs etc etc! One of the Cubs brought his younger sister to watch and she joined in the fun.

Here's one that is a craft and afterwords is a game to play.

Take Six 16 oz empty and cleaned plastic creamer bottles with their lids
Blue acrylic paint and a 1/2 in wide foam brush
Six 1" pom-poms in choice of color
A tennis ball
A black Permanent Marker
Thick craft clue

With the creamer bottle lids screwed on tight, use the marker to draw eyes, nose and mouth on each bottle. On the bottom of one bottle write 1, on two bottles 2 and the remainder 3. Paint two blue stripes on each bottle then glue a pom-pom on each lid.

Then your ready to play set the pins like you would to bowl. Then from about 10' away roll the tennis ball to knock down the pins. The boy gets the number of points that is indicated by the number on the bottom of the pin knocked down. The boy with the highest score wins.
