Tonight's SOTU Speech, I hope.. (vanity)

So I suppose the format will be as usual, Bush gets his time for his SOTU speech, and then afterwards the dems get to do their rebuttle...

In their earnst to degrage and minimize everything that is going on in Iraq, I am quite sure they will be bleating about their "exit strategy" gripe, since the free elctions in Iraq hurt them pretty bad and they'll be working on damage control.

Of course we know what the strategy in Iraq is, but I think Bush should use some of his speech to lay out a detailed plan like he has done in the past. I'm referring to a previous speech when he set a series of benchmarks, as in train x number of security forces by the end of this year, hold elections in Jan of 05, etc..

(every one of which has come to pass, BTW)

If he now laid out "Iraqi constitution next, then a vote on it, continue to train x number of forces" etc... He would cut the dems' "rebuttle" off at the knees.

I suspect that this complaint is mostly what they have pre written their speech about. The wind will taken completely out of their sails, so they will either say it anyway and look like complete fools, or they will fumble for something else to say, and they will look like complete fools.

I am not saying he should use his whole speech to deal with the petty democrats, I just think a few sentences to saw off whatever branch they've climbed out onto would go a long way in sealing the fate of the lefties.
