On the other hand, when a woman shaves her armpits, she exposes some of the most sensitive skin on the human body, not to mention an area saturated with lymph glands extremely close the the skin's surface. That bare , sensitive skin, along with the attendant micro-cuts, scrapes, abrasions inflicted during the normal course of shaving, is now virtually unprotected.
Follow that up with the application of burning, stinging, dehydrating agents such as perfumed deodorants and antiperspirants we're not to far from A root cause or at least a variable to the high rate of breast cancer in America. If circumcision can provide protection nasty diseases, is it impossible that shaved armpits can contribute to the develop of a nasty condition? The trans-dermal application of carcinogens and their storage in fatty tissue, such as the fatty tissue found near breast is possible. Consider the location of where most lumps detected lumps are found.

"Jeez, just what we need, celebreties giving our wives yet another excuse not to shave... its hard as hell for em to consistently shave their legs after they get that ring on their finger... no way I'm letting the armpit thing go... Wife decides to go french on that one, I'm outta there."
You're serious? You'd leave your wife if she stopped shaving her armpits? How strange....

I think my wife looks super-hot with dirt on her face after a day of gardening with me, but then again, I also like to help her clean up afterwards.

One of those attending the event at the Lexington Avenue Armory observed: 'She looked absolutely stunning but all people were talking about backstage were her hairy armpits.'Hairy armpits are so 70's!!

" I don't know a man who is turned on by 'sloppy'."
Armpit hair isn't sloppy, at least not in itself. Beauty, for me, doesn't depend on makeup and shaving. It's something else, altogether.
I've known women who were shaven and unshaven. I can't see that it ever made a difference to me with regard to my attraction to a particular woman.
Maybe it does make a difference for some men. For me, it doesn't. There are far more important qualities to consider.
The bottom line is that human women grow hair under their arms. That's the way they are, naturally. If they choose to shave, that's fine. If not, that's OK, too.
There's no difference to me in a woman not shaving her pits that for a man to grow a beard or not. Who cares?

Some may suggest that women that shave their armpits are shallow and slaves to the teachings Cosmo, Vague, and other fashion magazines. You don't see the irony of saying women don't shave aren't slaves to fashion magazines when Drew Barrymore (subject of story) was at an event for a fashion designer???
The 29-year- old Charlie's Angels star made her fashion statement at a New York catwalk event featuring designer Marc Jacobs.
I think it's personal decision if a woman wants to shave or not, but it is what is considered the norm in our society. I know that is not the case in Europe, but since it is the norm here it is always a bit shocking when women stop shaving.

I remember riding on a bus in Greece back when I was in the army. about 1972 and I saw a young woman who was the most beautifull Greek Girl I had ever seen..She looked Like a 19 year old Sophia Loren! then she raised her arm to take hold of the hand rail on the Bus and I saw the Hairiest arm pit I had ever seen on Man or Woman!! It took all the wind out of my sails that day. I guess it is "Culture shock"
But why is it "wrong" for our Culture to prefer a woman to have a shaved body? If we think it is attracive.. then so be it...If Julia Roberts wants hair, and Drew wants Hair...
why not go all the way and not shave their legs? or their face..someone will still find them attracive..
Like Janet Reno.

What about hairy-legged women?
Personally, I don't mind a bit of armpit hair but I do find hairy legs a turn-off.

Everyone has their own tastes. I do think this culture has definate preferences in a woman though, and not much tolerance for women who don't fit the standard.

Doesn't matter to me, really. My wife never shaves her legs, but she has very fine blond hair, and you can't see it anyhow.
However, I had a girlfriend many years ago who didn't shave anything. I loved her, all the same. On the day that I care about stuff like body hair more than about the person, I'll hang up my humanity and depart this world.
For me, beauty is in the eyes and in the personality. The rest is just icing.

Good for you!
Hair or the lack of it, does make a difference though.
Ever pet a shaved cat?
I suppose it just jars my preconceptions...

All you see anymore in movies, magazines, etc., are shaved guys. Girly men.Oh really? Girly men, huh. What about those of us who do not have a lick of hair on our chests? (OK I have exactly seven if you're counting). My Dad always said:
- Grass doesn't grow on a playground.
- You can't grow hair on steel.
The good part is I don't have to shave the ole mug every day, and can still get smooth as a baby's butt when I do. The wife likes that a lot. I'm durn near 40 and still can't grow a decent goatee. Forget a full beard or cool chops. When I was a kid I didn't like it, but now I believe I'm blessed not having much body hair. I think it's because of the Indian in me (unlike Ward Churchill).

Shaving eliminates those, as does overuse of deodorant products. Huh? How does shaving stop the glands from producing pheromones??? Deodorants and especially anti-perspirants I can maybe see since they are absorbed. Although blocked would be a better way of putting it.
