'Comic Book Guy' Named on the Simpsons

Posted on 02/10/2005 4:54:24 PM PST by GulliverSwift

January 25, 2005 -- THE elusive real name of Comic Book Guy will finally be revealed in "Simpsons" episode No. GABF02, Act 1.

The blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment airs in the show after the Super Bowl on Feb. 6.

In the episode, Homer inadvertently performs a wild, crowd-pleasing dance at a local carnival and is hired by several major sports figures to choreograph their victory dances.

He is so successful that he gets tapped to choreograph the Super Bowl halftime show.

Comic Book Guy, the snobbish know-it-all, pops up in the episode clad in a "Nerds do it Rarely" T-shirt. Since the series began in 1991, his real name has never been used.

The show aired, and his name his....

Flanders said he didn't know his name.

"My name is Jeff Albertson, but everyone calls me Comic Book Guy."

Worst name ever. And shame on them for giving in. Charles Schulz of Peanuts fame never gave in to the plea to finally have Charlie Brown kick the football held by Lucy.

Outside of the rare episode, The Simpsons 'jumped the shark' in the late 90s.

Futurama ate its lunch for as long as it lasted =(

The last year has been pretty poor. I hope the Simpsons movie has completely different writers.

Remember when the revealed MacGyver's first name? A seminal moment for anyone who ever tried to make a nuclear reactor out of tinfoil and chewing gum.

There was a kid named Jeff Albertson living in my small town when I was growing up... I have no idea where he ended up, but I'll bet he will be hearing some bad CBG imitations for a while.

Actually he did. Loossely quoting "I was named after my parents, Bea and Jay Hunnicutt.

The best CBG line ever came when the nerds took over Springfield full of Utopian dreams (nice satire of the liberal mindset) and proclaimed that, in line with Vulcan ritual, sex would only be permitted once every seven years. "For some of you this will mean much less sex. For me, much, much more."

Another great line in that same episode--

Chief Wiggum: "Geez, how many gazebos do you she-males need?"

Remember when the crowd of morons revolts against he intelligensia. Lenny screams "Let's make litter out of those literati!" and someone says "Hey that was too clever. He's one of them!"

Worst name ever. And shame on them for giving in. Charles Schulz of Peanuts fame never gave in to the plea to finally have Charlie Brown kick the football held by Lucy.

I'm pretty certain he did kick it in one of the videos. Snoopy gave him an invisibility potion which worked for awhile, and so Charlie Brown managed to kick the football a few times before (without his knowledge) the potion wore off and Lucy went back to her football-snatching ways.

I did like a cartoon I saw shortly after CS's death where Charlie Brown found his mailbox full of love letters, walked by the stump of the Kite Eating Tree, kicked the football, and was greeted by an angel "Welcome home Mr. Schulz".
