Cutting up Texas would be a handy way of increasing the Republican majority in the Senate, though.

Would you care to point me to the Federal law that so states the above..... A link will be fine. Texas has a lot going for it but the petuation of myths doesn't help. Texas and any other state can fly their flag at the same height when flown side by side on adjacent staffs...

From the US Flag Code......
(f) When flags of States, cities, or localities, or pennants of societies are flown on the same halyard with the flag of the United States, the latter should always be at the peak. When the flags are flown from adjacent staffs, the flag of the United States should be hoisted first and lowered last. No such flag or pennant may be placed above the flag of the United States or to the United States flag's right.

Welcome to FR..... From where did you copy this? You failed to provide a link

I will concede that the upper Texas coast has brown sand beaches that do not please the "Muscle Beach Butt-Showin Speedo-People"....then again...

But ya know...the upper Texas beach areas like Galveston and Bolivar Peninsula have character. I'd rather hang out there than with a bunch of Valley girls and dudes on some snotbag California beach.

Besides, at California beaches, the water is freezing!

My favorite beach memories are of the West end of Galveston Island, by San Luis Pass...great area for fishing, beautiful water, lots of beach...Wish I was there this morning...sigh.

Texas beaches..... Well the Big Muddy which dumps in the Gulf below New Orleans is the cause of the brown beaches. The current flow is to the west thus taking the heartland of American and depositing it along the LA/TX beaches... Note the difference between the beaches on the east/west sides of the mouth.......

Great... now show me where Texas is the only one by Federal Law that can be flown at the same level. The Tx flag code mirrors the Federal Code.

p.s., I understand, as I'm sure you do as well that there is no "center" of the state of Texas.

My brother has a spread in Centerville......with an oil well or two....They are distracting during Deer season....but my brother seems to tollerate the noise...Grin...

You forgot they talk kinda of funny .... We were on a plane and told our young son we were going to be landing in Texas and he asked "how will I know I am in Texas" and we replied you know you are in Texas because they speak with an accent. When we landed, in his loud voice he said "Dad I don't think we are in Texas these people don't talk funny, This big Texan with Cowboy boots and big hat came up and said "Howdy son" you're right only people from out of state talk funny.
