My kids were stationed at Weisbaden from 2000 to 2004. They say that the German people in Weisbaden were overwhelmingly supportive of the U.S. and Bush also. They have lots of good tales about German folks around there expressing their goodwill toward us.

The DUmmies have a thread on it. They're calling the troops brainwashed and such. They just can't handle the fact that the troops love our president.

Glad to hear that. This is exactly why I want several thousands US soldiers kept in Germany: they´re Ambassadors for America in Germany and can hopefully report good things about their stay here. The generations of soldiers who have been here thinking positive about my country really make a difference in the way Germans are perceived by Americans. Greet your kids from a German, who is thankful having had them here!

Thank you so much!

My son-in-law was the one stationed in Weisbaden. His wife is my older daughter and was there for the entire 4 years. During the last year my younger daughter also went to Weisbaden to live with them.

My younger daughter turned 18 while she lived in Germany and really enjoyed her months there. She had made friends here in the states with a gal who came from Munich as an exchange student. They reconnected and my kid had a grand time making friends and seeing much of Germany and some of Switzerland with German young folks her age. I was very encouraged to hear that those "kids" were all just about as conservative as my family. Even though my kids are back in the states now the younger daughter still keeps in touch with her friends and plans to return to Germany often and soon to visit. She has so many good things to say about your country and people!

I thank you and your countrymen for being so warm and wonderful to my little family while they were all there so far from me. I will pass on your greetings!

Kimberly

And I thank your hometown's people for the warm hospitality they showed over 4 years to my precious ones!

Truly, I have so many warm stories from my kids over folks who were kind to them and made their stay enjoyable that I would love to be able to go hug and thank them all in person.

Oh my, I know how you must miss your family. I didn't have a chance to go visit my kids while they were there though they did come home to visit 3 times. I am glad you get to go visit! I still would love to go to that area someday just because of the stories. :-)

My grandkids were also born in German hospitals there. First one terrified my daughter because it was only 3 months after their arrival and she spoke NO German then. The last baby was born 2 months before they came home and except for the big problem of my son-in-law being in Baghdad during that time the birth went charmingly. :-)
