The cardinals choose the next pope - they each get one vote, and the new pope has to get at least two-thirds of the votes. Basically they just keep voting until that happens, I believe.

Heh...I tried to find an explanation that wasn't long winded, but most gave a long history. This one seems pretty basic: From Ask Yahoo...

I just got to wondering if everyone already kindof knows who it will be. Is he chosen from among the cardinals then?
