Jones, a car dealer, former secretary for Tennessee's Democratic Party and a fund-raiser for Al Gore, did not return phone calls Wednesday afternoon. Wendell Schronk, Beefmaster's executive vice president, also did not return calls.

I should have suspected as much. Savannah, Tennessee, was also the home of Carbon Copy, a Tennessee Walking Horse that sired offspring for ten years after he went sterile. I also had dealings with Beefmaster breeders in this area that were, to say the least, questionable in their ethics.
