This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
The pictures were great. I commend the way that your horses consider themselves as your fellow campers. A good example of natural horsemanship.
I've got one for ya!
Glad you enjoyed them! :~D
Ah..I love the pictures and would have loved to be there sitting by the fire. It's been a long time since I slept in a tent and got a wet butt. No more for me..lol
We are suppose to get 6 to 7 inches here! That's crazy. Oh well, at least I got all my mulch down this past week. I have a shooting tournament tomorrow too, that should be fun. :'(
Looks like the 5 of yall had a good time:')
We did have fun :~D
And there were 7. Not sure who you missed in your count, but no matter ;~D
O thank you for the pictures - I've not seen these and they are great. Magazine is now $5.00!
Oops. I forgot about Homer and figured the cat would have said "no way" and found a nice cushy spot inside.
Don't declaw Coochie, he's too old and he'll bleed alot and it'll be horribly painful. Just clip his claws like you do the dog's toenails. Wrap him in a towel and get someone to help you if you have to. It takes both my Mother and I to clip her cat's nails, she doesn't appreciate it and very loudly lets us know it, but we manage. If we don't they start growing into the pads of her feet. We do it about once every month or so. I clip my cat's nails too. He doesn't appreciate it either, but I can do him by myself. He's none to careful with his when they're sharp and will bring blood when playing.
Wow. Another baby:') Congratulations to you and Truly also.
I'm older than some of you and because of my job, I wash my hands a lot and they dry out but do any of yall keep the back of your hands banged up. I'm always getting bruises or skin tears. I'm thinking about getting a pair of gloves without finger tips. Have yall ever used them. I need them to ride too caz I come off the horse scuffed up also. I'm left handed and that's usually the one I'm the hardest on.
Cindy, I agree with Frog...don't declaw that poor cat. Did you know they take a joint out, not just the claws?
I'm willing to give it a try. You just clip the tips?
Congratulations - waiting for pictures here :)
Oh I would love them. I don't feel right about not paying for them though - really. You think about it and if you really want to get rid of them, I will take them and pay shipping, of course. Thank you.
Maybe Rei *isn't* all app. I'm ALWAYS telling her what to do. LOL. (since she's so big, I have to remind her that I'm the shrimpy 'boss')
This is one of our horses that I feel 100% safe with. There's just something about her. (no one ELSE thinks that way....except our twins, and Rei returns that to them ALSO)
