I think you're mistaken about this. He pursued and won a malpractice suit against her ob/gyn. The fact that most of the award went into a trust for her hospice care was irrelevant to the winning of the malpractice suit, which was based upon care prior to her cardiac arrest.
how will this case not lead to universal health care? soon this woman will be the ward of the state and will be required to be kept alive. if she can get free health care why can't i also have health care? why is her life more important then mine>
