Error Leads to 'American Idol' Revote

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The 11 contestants left on Fox's reality hit "American Idol" are getting another shot at stardom.

Phone numbers that allowed viewers to pick their favorite contestant were incorrectly displayed during Tuesday's show, prompting a re-vote during the show scheduled to air Wednesday, the network said in a statement.

Phone lines will remain open for two hours following the episode, when another singer will be booted off this week by viewers. The contestant with the fewest votes goes home.

In the running are Bo Bice, Anthony Fedorov, Constantine Maroulis, Anwar Robinson, Scott Savol, Nikko Smith, Mikalah Gordon, Jessica Sierra, Vonzell Solomon, Nadia Turner and Carrie Underwood.

The series, which is in its fourth season, draws nearly 30 million viewers an episode.

30 million? Wow. That's almost half as many as Star Trek, before it was cancelled for low ratings.

Does this mean they get a do-over tonight with the same songs?

No, the performances will be replayed. The ones who did poorly (Mikalah) don't get to try to sing on key this time!

Thanks. I may never forgive my sister for making me care about this show!

Mikalah should have gone home last week!

Funny but the Smith guy was kicked off and returned when loverboy quit.

Smith has a great voice and great stage presence too.

Glad he got a second chance.

Simon was so mean to the heavy kid last night......sheesh......

She is horrible...I turned off the sound last night when she started singing. So what's gonna happen tonight? This will be one boring show.

So will they just replay the tape of yesterday's show? I voted for several people: Vonzell, Anwar, Bo, Scott and Constantine. Really I am just hoping Mikalah is gone this week. Please don't make me listen to her sing another song. She has a wonderful and charming personality, but she's an awful singer. She should try acting.

Anwar is my favorite singer; but if he doesn't start doing a better job picking songs, he's going to be gone soon.

My favorite performance last night was from Constantine, closely followed by Vonzell and then Bo..and then Scott. I thought the choice of The Partridge Family song was just hilarious.

I agree, I am hooked. Carrie was awesome last night, and Jessica was really good, too. I guess the 80s female rockers were the way to go to do well last night!

They all sang well except for Mikalah. She's like American Idol 2 years ago. These AI's are polished, it's getting to be more Star Search than American Idol. Not that I mind that. I'd rather hear good singing all the time, then great singing once in a blue moon!

How about Paula Abdul last night? She was out of control with first kissing Simon when he agreed with her and then snapping at him when he disagreed. I bet she is not part of the voting panel next season.

She's more a Barbra Streisand wannabe.

I thought Paula was cute last night. No way will they get rid of her.

Do you like her personality though? I think Mikalah has a delightful personality. She just can't sing worth a darn.

If I were a true skeptic, I'd guess the producer didn't like the vote results and created this snafu so there could be a do-over show.

Well, I'm a true skeptic and I agree with you.
One of their faves didn't make it...maybe Bo?
His low key, Jim Croce song might have been not 'over the top' enough.
I loved it.

To once again quote Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog, singing about the Ruben vs. Clay debacle a while back:

Ruben or Clay, which one do I pick?
It's like trying to choose which puddle of vomit to lick.

I think Carrie Underwood will win

Agree. She's got it all..............great voice, beautiful looks, and a pleasant presence. She definitely stands out even though a few others are also talented.

I am not as positive about the overall with Jessica ????, (last performer on Tuesday) but she has a wonderful voice, IMO.
