Error Leads to 'American Idol' Revote

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The 11 contestants left on Fox's reality hit "American Idol" are getting another shot at stardom.

Phone numbers that allowed viewers to pick their favorite contestant were incorrectly displayed during Tuesday's show, prompting a re-vote during the show scheduled to air Wednesday, the network said in a statement.

Phone lines will remain open for two hours following the episode, when another singer will be booted off this week by viewers. The contestant with the fewest votes goes home.

In the running are Bo Bice, Anthony Fedorov, Constantine Maroulis, Anwar Robinson, Scott Savol, Nikko Smith, Mikalah Gordon, Jessica Sierra, Vonzell Solomon, Nadia Turner and Carrie Underwood.

The series, which is in its fourth season, draws nearly 30 million viewers an episode.

"So what is the phone charge for voting-- $1 x 20 million calls = $20m"

There is no charge for phone voting because they are toll free lines. But text message voting probably has charges unless the cell phone plan includes free messaging, but those are by the phone companies.

I predict Nadia Turner vs. Bo Bice in the finals.

Yes he pulled it off very well I thought. And I laughed all the way through it -- just the idea of it was hilarious. I think he thought so too. Simon's description was perfect. It's like ordering a guard dog and getting a poodle in a black leather jacket. LOL! I loved it.

What do you think about the winner and runner up from last year?

We call Constantine "Smeagle" because he looks just like Smeagle in the LOTR. I wanted him out several weeks ago, but I have come to appreciate him since then. Anwar is my favorite.

I predict Nadia Turner vs. Bo Bice in the finals.

Of those two, which one would you pick to win?

Nadia was awful last night -- and looked horrible with that silly hairdo. She's a lovely young woman with some talent, but that hairdo made her look downright ugly.

Nadia is not half as good as either of the two blonds.....I think one of them should win...but I would LIKE either Bp or Constantine to win. They are both VERY good...and seem to be the underdogs...

The ones who did poorly (Mikalah) don't get to try to sing on key this time!

Mikalah couldn't carry a tune if they gave it to her in a bucket.

I think Kerri is a wonderful singer but I am not really into country, so that's a drawback for me. Anwar sounds just like Stevie Wonder, imo. Too bad he didn't pick a Stevie Wonder song for his performance last night.

Mikalah is going home!!!

Then have a short career in SitComs. In ten years she will grow up to be Lainie Kazan.

I voted for Buchanan.

James Buchanan? There's a lot of old freepers, and I want to pay proper respects when I can.

Been saying that for weeks. And Bo will win for business reasons.

Interesting, since the estimated viewership of the #1 show on TV when Star Trek aired, Bonanza, was only 16 million.

Star Trek never approached 60 million.
