Texas songwriter and I thought it would be interesting to explore the thought process in poem writing. Such as, why was one word or phrase used over another.

A lot of my little haiku's come from some event that has happened during the day. such as the Grackle poem. I had been tying up the grapes that day and the Grackles were absolutely "tormenting." me with their noise . . . so hence . . . "help!, my ears, my ears." seemed very appropriate and came to me very easily . . . ;-) . . . others come not so easily and are inspired by a phrase that pops into my head . . . I jot the phrase down and then start to work with it until I'm satisfied that I have the very best rendition that I am capable of giving. Then again, some are inspired by a beautiful graphic or photograph . . . inspiration is everywhere, if one will just take the time to "stop, look and listen." Hopefully as I've gotten older I'm taking the time to really open my eyes and "see."

Thank you for this Forum Miss Feather, which is challenging and allowing me to "grow" as a poet.

Dear HopeandGlory. We poets in the Lair are more rich due to your contributions.

Haiku for me is hard.

I am totally addicted to free verse.

Yes, stretch and grow and write your heart out.

HUGS
