Easter in Florida
Aussie Dasher | 25 March 2005 | Aussie Dasher

At the very first Easter, the then Governor could find no crime the condemned man had committed. He protested with those wishing to put Jesus to death. Finally he, literally, washed his hands of the whole matter and handed Christ over to be executed by the power-brokers of the day.

Pontius Pilate's instincts were right, but he lacked backbone. He knew Jesus was innocent of any crime, but when pressured by the "masses", he gave in and allowed this innocent man to be nailed to a cross and left there until he was dead: a slow and cruel form of execution.

Jump ahead a couple of thousand years. To Florida, where a different Governor can again spare the life of an innocent, this time a woman. She, too, has been condemned to a particularly slow and cruel method of execution, this time starvation and dehydration. Governor Bush knows Terri is innocent. He knows her execution is wrong. He is facing off with the modern day power-brokers, the MSM and liberal judiciary.

Will Governor Bush show the intestinal strength his ancient Roman counterpart lacked?

The answer to that question will decide if history is to repeat itself, and an innocent woman - not guilty of any crime - is to be handed over to the "masses" to be put to death.

Pilate was appeasing Caiaphus and knew how to work 'the masses' for public effect.

And another thing: Pilate was a powerful man where Jeb is subserviant to the judge who sentenced Terri to death.

Let's hope and pray that the Governor does the right thing in this case. It's all pretty amazing.

Do Jeb and George and the stumblebum GOP legislators who wrote a lousy law that was laughed at and ignored by the lawyers actually in charge of this country really think they are going to be able to overcome the fallout that will result from their inaction?.

That they will be able to enjoy the wide support of an electorate that sees them for what they have unmasked themselves to be, impotent, powerless fools who care more about their own political hides that stopping a psychotic male nurse with a death fetish and a swamp judge from starving a brain damaged woman to death during of all times Holy week?

They can kiss the majority goodbye.

Unless the judge is morally wrong. He is Governor representing his constituency. He answers to God's law first. Yes?

To quote myself from an earlier post.. when asked if Jeb had spoken recently and what he had said, I replied:

"He asked, 'Should I release Jesus or Barrabbas?"

The GOP let Terri die and will be cursed.

Why support a bunch of empty suits?

They cave on everything, I'm surprised Judge Greer doesn't order the troops back from Iraq for an encore.

Standing up in the face of judicial tyranny would be noble.

The GOP is spineless.

The executive is not supposed to be "subserviant" to the judiciary.

Suggest urgent request to Isreal for Dual citizenship for Terri. Ask Isreal to intervene - send plane to pick up Terri. Iceland just granted Fischer citizenship and he was freed from Jail in Japan. This would be a great play for Isreal as it would lock in Conservative Christian base support for Isreal. Then World Court could intervene - there would be no U.S. Jurisdiction any longer. I don't know if the family is related to the famous Schindler of WWII who saved the Jews - but this might help encourage Isreal. Have the Vatican help with the arrangement. God Bless.

One important thing Terri can do for all of US: our government and courts have been exposed as disfunctional for the founding principles of this Republic; perhaps, just perhaps, legislators will act to bring this nation back to health, but I'm not hopeful because they have made such fools of themselves, allowing judges to defy Congress exercising its Third Amendment duties, thumbing their noses at Congressional subpoenas ... our nation is in serious trouble and the leadership doesn't appear to know there's trouble or what to do but stare and utter tsk tsks.
