HAS ANYONE WONDERED WHY THE MSM HAS ALL-TERRI ALL THE TIME? (VANITY)
Self ^ | MMarch 25, 2005 | Edward Watson

Posted on 03/25/2005 6:23:30 AM PST by Edward Watson

All of us conservatives know the mainstream media is anti-conservative, anti-Republican and anti-Bush. They ridicule and oppose the pro-life movement. They make fun of Catholicism and Evangelicalism (and Mormonism and any Christian conservative denomination).

Why then are they giving the Terri Schiavo situation this extensive coverage? One cannot watch the news on any TV channel or read any newspaper without the Terri Schiavo case as one of the leading stories.

We've learned several things over the past few weeks:

1. President Bush's approval ratings have PLUMMETED since he got involved.

2. Anywhere from 2/3 to 4/5th of those surveyed believe the GOP-led congress and President Bush SHOULDN'T have poked their collective noses into the case.

3. Many of those who want Terri's feeding tube reinserted have vowed to punish the Republicans for not doing enough.

What these mean is there's a direct negative causal effect against President Bush and the Republicans.

This is why the MSM is covering the Terri Schiavo case - they know it's a 'lose-lose' situation for President Bush and the GOP. The longer they play it; the more damage is done to the Republicans.

The leftists and liberal Democrats couldn't be happier. This single case has turned their fortunes around and instead of losing more congressional seats in 2006; they now stand to gain a significant amount - perhaps even retake control over congress.

Why? Because the GOP will lose support from moderates and independents for their 'interference' and will also lose support from those who will want to punish them for not doing enough to keep Terri alive.

So, way to go Republicans! You've now given the Democrats control over the US just because you let your emotions be manipulated without thinking of the consequences.

This is the dumbest thing I've read on here yet. First off, Pres. Bush can't be re-elected, so who cares what his poll numbers are? And if anyone polled had really followed this story and understood it, and now think less of Bush, then their dems anyway.

If he hadn't, his rating in his base would of plummeted.. And rightly so.

That's not true. Most Republicans, in three different polls, opposed Bush's and Congressional involvement in this matter.

Not news. Opinion. Why not post this in one of the existing threads on the topic?

Of course I know he can't be re-elected. However, President Bush is the face of the Republican Party. If he is viewed negatively; it affects the entire party.

Claiming those polled who disagree with what President Bush and the GOP led-congress are just "dems" will give you a democratic body of anywhere from 66-80% of the total population. Are you sure that high of a percentage of the US population are actually "dems"?

Who exactly isn't thinking clearly here?

I wonder about the MSM all the time. I wonder how anyone can listen to the BS they put out and consider it the gospel truth.

I don't know if I agree with all of your conclusions, but I will agree that I was stunned that Schiavo trumped a school shooting. I was away from all sources of news when the shooting happened for most of the day (Monday I think it was), but I'd been home late Monday with the news on for a couple of hours (all Terri Schiavo coverage) before I heard about the school shooting. When has there ever been a school shooting with so many dead and so little national TV coverage during the week?

I work in the stockmarket. I KNOW the MSM are corporations trying to get ratings.

I don't see an agenda ... even Fox covers the story 24/7.

If your premise is true, then why is Rush Limbaugh pushing this story to the degree he is? I think Terri's passing will leave a very bitter taste in the mouths of evangelicals, but I don't think the Bushes will be blamed. They have done what they could given the parameters of the law. No human's life is worth the price of imposing marshal law. Millions have been killed in wars in order to protect us from that very thing.

When you base conclusions on biased and flawed MSM polls, which are push polls plain and simple, then you reach flawed conclusions.

Garbage in garbage out, this is a tragedy but the only person suffering irreversible harm is Mrs Schiavo.

President Bush is a man of conscience and morals, he's reacted to this the only way he ever would. He stated and acted "to err on the side of life".

If true (no reason to doubt you), this is highly dissapointing.

BTW, I don't blame the MSM for pursuing the ratings. As an investor I want to see a profit. This IS capitalism, no?

If you want your elected officials to govern according to polls, fine. I don't. I would prefer people of principle who believe life is sacred and don't believe in starving innocent people to death. Again, I believe many of those polled (though I don't know how questions were phrased) probably haven't followed the case closely or researched the nuances of it, especially all the rulings from Judge Greer. If "Republicans" don't value life, then there isn't much hope for this country.

All the polls are bogus anyway!Even the Fox news poll.Fox News opinion dynamics poll over several years has been very unfriendly towards the president, just look at the polling the weekend prior to the last election for a example.Fox news has had the wool pulled over its eyes by this liberal polling company. All the major polls are done by liberals.Gallup used to be the standard.George Gallup was a Christian man and no longer owns it.The Gallup poll is still one of the best polls around unless you are approaching a election. If its crunch time, as it is right now ,then Gallup crunches the #`s in favor of the dems.
