Being one of the FReepers completely outraged by this matter, I think I speak for many of us, although not all of us. We are still furious at EVERYONE in government, period! And some in talk radio are on the verge of ticking us off, too.
Regarding the Bush Family:
Sometimes, people believe what they subconsciously want to believe. I've [reluctantly] concluded that neither in the Bush family is going to stick their necks out any further on this. They broke a lance on the shield of death and moved on. They were, for a brief time, part of the solution. Now, they are off the field.
Sadly, after all these days, if the governor took action now, and if she recovered, then whatever damage remains in her, kidneys for example, that would haunt him. He already burned his bridge behind him on this.
So, it's just like the 90s all over, where politicians run scared from some old fashioned push poll, thinking the Old Media is 'all-powerful', and then bending an ear to advisors who think the same way.
CONCLUSION REGARDING TERRI: No member of the government will save her, period. I appreciate the efforts of all the talk radio hosts, with the obvious exception of Neal Boortz, who, as far as I know, never mentioned the gagged witnesses, the tape that could well be her voice, etc. Michael Savage was the only one with the best way of looking at this. Government failed Terri, period.
AND: We must be careful at this point. Some of us want to 're-channel' everyone's energy, as though it's some kind of force to be 'tapped into'. This energy is like ball lightning so long as she's alive. We appreciate rants. We appreciate concern for HER. We appreciate love, even sarcasm about Death. We do not appreciate manipulation. Later, we'll take the 'long view'. When she passes, you bet. But so long as there is hope for HER, anything that tastes like Wellstone tripe is sickening.

I had assumed you looked at my profile page
My mistake .. sorry
100 a day? I don't believe that. Maybe people are pulled off ventilators, but you don't remove feeding tubes quite so cavalierly.
Amazing.
"I'm a Bushbot ... Deal with it !"
Ha! You just think you are. You support Bush, but I believe it is with open eyes. Actually, that's how I am. I do not want him or his brother to step down, rest assured.

This Jeb APPENDIX TO ANSWER BRIEF OF AMICUS,
GORDON WAYNE WATTS in 2003
http://hometown.aol.com/gww1210/myhomepage/AppendixWATTS_SC04-925.doc
these Humanist must have changed some laws from that time
In the 90's my landlord had "replaced windows" call MCI he was paid per rm in those days there was this definiton of what is a room establish in 1929 my building is 1928 so since I had a studio it was one room.
last year another MCI for "pointing the building" again he was paid per rm during that time they have gotten the wording and definiton changed so now my studio is consided two rooms btw nothing has changed in my apt!
My point is what did the "Global Ethic Humanist" get changed in that document?
I have no clue
Yes, you did hold back your punches.
On another subject, if I may:
****
There was a story that I ran across (I thought it was from Newsmax) yesterday in hours and hours on the net. I cannot find it for the life of me today.
It was a story explaining how Terri and the Schindlers were outgunned early on by Michael's high priced lawyers, they were beaten by the lawyers from the very beginning of litigation. It mentioned that the Schindlers even had a hard time finding a lawyer to take their case (vecause of money), and when they did, the lawyer was not real familiar with the "end of life" law, and was spun in circles by Felos.
Can anyone remember what thread that was? I'm dying to read it again. I went to Newsmax and can't find it today.
Help!
It's clear why it has become such a national media event, as well. It was a deeply personal tragedy, mixed with sinister seeming relatives, adultery, legal nuance, medical issues, political intrigue, and more. It's like mixing great episodes of ER, Law and Order, and the West Wing, and letting the audience play along.
People want to believe in the conspiracy. They want to believe that wild judges are tossing out the law and murdering people. They want to believe that the government is wrong and the doctors are wrong and that Terri is just misdiagnosed, and that feeding tubes aren't removed a hundred times a day in America. People are swept up in the crusade, and feel like they're part of something.
It sound's good. Moral indignation is intoxicating. FR is getting hammered on it, and the binge is insane.
There are a lot of issues here that we as a society need to discuss. I personally don't think they should have removed the tube without the parents consent, or another medical review. It seems to me that if there should be more leeway given towards life. But what I personally think isn't the law.
People believe that the death penalty is murder, and that Iraq is a murderous aggression of innocents, and they vote against it, and oppose it through legal means. Would Free Republic support them and their moral compasses if they were to start breaking the law to oppose what they felt was murder, a murder supported by their tax dollars and good name? We can change our laws, and often do, but it does no good to change them if we become a lawless people.
A wild stab, I would think of the Empire Journal. I know that Michael had added legal muscle by dipping into her medical fund, and the Empire Journal did an excellent job of looking into that. I'll try a google on it. FReegards....
Good thing .. or I'd have to dye my hair blue again .. j/k :0)
Your post is thought provoking, while I respectfully disagree with parts of it.
"We can change our laws, and often do, but it does no good to change them if we become a lawless people."
What do you expect when someone's inalienable right was violated by the law? When the law is the very foe of what it was made to stand for, the law becomes a joke.
As for conspiracy theories, it's the ones who think the law is righteous on this that are the tin foil conspiracy theorists. The amount of evidence and number of witnesses blocked by the law to ensure her gruesomely slow starvation is overwhelming.
Taking out this much time to treasure a human life and to feel pain for a mourning family is not typical in US history or this forum. No worries. We'll get back to the 'big picture' soon enough. In fact, you are free to do that right now. FReegards....
Everything about funding on google seems, at first glance, to be at the Empire Journal...

Isn't it sickening that apparently this dear innocent girl died because of a husband who turned evil on her, and because of unable and inexperienced lawyers? (And the sicko husband decided to put to sleep her two cats when she was in the hospital ---- knowing that she adored all animals! --- what a PIG!)
This entire event has been disgusting, depressing and embarrassing.......... for the politicians who failed to find their backbones to save her. Yes, that includes those Bushes...... sorry to say.
The politicians' spines were like spider silk waving in the wind.
Thanks again for the thread!
My point is what did the "Global Ethic Humanist" get changed in that document?

It would take someone who is a lawyer friend to the US to cut through brief of the last encouter with the apellet courts (mar.2005) Jeb and Greer and see what they did to get the verdict changed!
I would like to find out if this Medical Examiner doing the autopsy is from one of those Ethic school of thought?
"Do ye suppose that mercy can rob justice? I say nay; not one whit. If so, God would cease to be God."
That's some tagline. FReegards....
Good points.
"Are your parents Pro-Choice? I guess you got lucky! ... Is your spouse?"
Another great tagline. FReegards....
Thank you!
Now this is errie to me I did not high the word Ethic in yellow!
How did that happen?
