I lived in Greenville for a couple of years....

It is a awesome small city....enough amenities, stores malls & resturaunts in town and 1.5 hours down the road is the Mall of Georgia, another 45 minutes and your in downtown Atlanta.

Housing prices will be a shock to most, homes are cheap here in the South. I now live in the North Side of the ATL metro area in a 6000 sq ft house with 7 bedrooms, 6 baths, on an acre of land, inground pool, professionally landscaped yard gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, custom cabinets which I bought a couple of years ago for $280K. I'm a bit fuzzy on current Greenvile prices but I imagine you will do well....

Charleston is a three hours away and so is Hilton Head. The mountains of North Carolina are within 1 hour (which include Indian Casino's). Snow Skiing is close....

If you like hiking and fishing this is some of the most beautiful country in the nation. BTW great lakes good for skiing 8 months of the year...

If that isn't enough, golf is one of the major pastimes in SC....The Master's just held in Augusta Georgia straddles the SC/GA border.

Very true about house prices. My sponsor family in Annapolis lived in a two story house with a pool backed to a golf course. I think that they could sell their house for almost half a million, where as the same house in SC would probably go for 150-200K.

You probably drive as fast as me if you can get to atlanta in 2 hours. For the safe Driver, Columbia is Two hours away, Atlanta is about 2-3 depending on traffic, Charleston and Hilton head are closer to 4 hours. Yes I know the times to those two since I go down to beaufort sometimes when Im home.

Skiing up in banner elk is probably 3-4 hours away, most annoyingly is 2 hours of 2 lane roads.

I dont mind living there except my job kinda keeps me away from there.

Wow. We live in Raleigh, NC and are FINALLY looking to buy a home here.....and it's very, VERY expensive. The house you've described would run seven figures here...easily.

Wish I could relocate to someplace where I could buy such a house at such a price. Are prices there still that reasonable?
