Here's something to ponder....your comments are welcome..IN January,I was down in Raliegh for the wedding of an old friend's daughter...He's a life-long REd Sox fan..he moved down to NC a few years ago..and last year was wondeful for him. I'm a long-suffering Mets' fan, and ergo, a Yankee hater, so I could share his joy. We were discussing baseball late one night over more than a few beers, and he offered me this wager, which I accepted. The bet is $100 that the Yankees will NOT win a World Series while A-Rod wears pinstripes. I always like a good wager, but the problem is that he wants me to give him 15-1 odds..I think it's only worth 6-1...What say you?

Dunno...but if you wind up giving 15-1, let me know.
I might want a piece of that action.

Never paid too much to sports superstitions, the Bambino, etc. But the guy who told me about the curse seemed pretty confident the Yankees would get whipped by the Os (before the sweep). When it happened the strange tall tale in a Maryland bar about a curse on the Yankees seemed less urban legend and more mystical fact. The image that haunts me is the very confident esoteric Cheshire Cat Smile of this eccentric philosophy professor.
You just never know... [irony]
