Pardon my ignorance, but what does "jump the shark" mean?

It's the moment when you can tell that a once-good show is past it's prime.

So says the clueless Canadian about an American TV series. ,,, are you saying the Simpsons isn't put together for international conspumption? Like IBM computers, McDonalds and DKNY stuff, it is. The Canadian's taken out the trash here, that's all.

BTW, the expression "jump the shark has probably 'jumped the shark' by now You beat me to it. I am so bloody sick of this phrase, I can scarcely put it into words.

Sadly, it's ["Arrested Development"] about to be axed, The Curse of Seinfeld extends to even recurring guest appearances?
"The Simpsons" died when Homer went gay.

I've become a fan of the "Aqua Teen Hunger Force." I found them one night a couple of months ago and was laughing my butt off.

I agree. I still enjoy the Simpsons very much. Sunday nights are about the only time I watch TV. The Fox line up for Sundays is quite good.
I never thought ' Futurama ' was funny. I thought it was painfully dull.

I just realized that by replying to you that I am proving that I do care what you think. But then by your first post you are proving that you really care what Canucks think.
Oh just forget it.

Flashing back to the 1990s to show us that, with Frye stuck in suspended animation, his dog died depressed and alone on the street was simply too serious and depressing for a comedy show.
If I had wanted to be depressed by a dying dog story, I would have rented "Old Yeller."
Saw that one a few nights ago, I have to agree. I did like the one where they landed on a planet of Amazons though. B-)

I know the SImpsons has indeed been getting less funny ove time. I still watch it because the show has brought me so much enjoyment over so many years. I remember excitedly watching and recording the very first episodes when I was a young teen.
I don't watch it as much anymore, because I don't laugh like I used to watching it, but it's still hard to let it go.
Hey, maybe the SImpsons did jump the shark or is in the process of doing so, but in it's 15th season. Arguable you could say that it has been sliding downhill for a few seasons, but still.. they did offer well over ten straight years of eye-wateringly funny comedy.
It's sad to see it go, yet I salute them just the same.

Duckman, now that was a tasteless, rude and side-splittingly funny show!

I used to be a faithful fan of the Simpsons. If it had ceased production only five years ago, it would have guaranteed its fame as one of the alltime best. Haven't been able to get interested in it since the new millenium. No show can continue milking the same lines. "Seinfeld" quit just as it was starting to go sour. "The Simpsons" should have done it years ago.
