Suggestion; Boycott "News"week

Posted on 05/16/2005 11:25:16 AM PDT by Starhopper

As a result of this "news magazine's" carelessness in reporting. 15 people have been killed in riots throughout the muslim world. The United States has once again had its reputation sullied. The lives of our troops serving in Afganistan and Iraq have been placed in even more danger than before. Who knows what this form of shoddy fact reporting will ultimately lead to. My fear is a much increased risk of terrorism here in the US. All because a liberal rag of "news magazine" is still smarting after the 2004 elections. Its time to run "News"week's nose in it. As of now I am boycotting "News"week magazine now and forever. I invite all Freepers to join me in doing so. Spread the word. Invite your friends. Its time to let the liberal media know that we will not allow this "news magazine" to endanger by false reporting; Our troops, our nation, and ultimately ourselves. Starhopper.

On another thread it was suggested that subscription cards be sent back with "NEEWSWEEK LIED AND PEOPLE DIED" written on them. At least they will have to pay postage if nothing else.

My wife got a Newsweak subscription against my advice but has agreed to let me return the next issue with a nasty note.

More important, ask your doctor's office to boycott it. I've never seen it anyplace else...

If you see it on newsstands, complain to the owners. Write to the advertisers. If you are in the military ask the pxs to stop carrying it.

Make an example of them. They deserve it.

One of our congressmen has already been using that statement - I can't think of his name - but he's one of the good guys.

Thats funny! Everytime I've heard about Newsweek in the last few days since this story broke I've been thinking the same thing.

Asking Freepers to boycott Newsweek is like asking orthodox Jews to boycott pork. It's not going to result in a significant reduction of business for the target.

GOOD IDEA!! I don't subscribe -- never have, but the next time I am in a store that sells magazines, I will pick one up and shake it a little. Magazines are usually filled with loose subscription cards, and one is bound to fall out!! VOILA!

Maybe boycotting their advertisers would have more of an impact. There is a list around here somewhere.

I've been doing that for years with all liberal mags I get my hands on, e.g. Vanity Fair, Newsweak, Time, Nation etc. Just pull out the postage prepaid cards, vent a little ("4 more for W", "Your leftist drivel is sickening" etc.) and pop it in the mail. It feels good...

I subscribed to Newsweek until they had a Teddy Kennedy piece, maybe during the Fenior Bush era. Newsweek went on and on about how Teddy drank alot, sometimes before lunch! However Teddy was OUR Teddy and should be given a pass.

All this while the Democrats were crucifying Sen John Tower who had been nominated to be Sec of Def! The Kennedy Apologia in light of the Tower crucifixion rankled me so I cancelled my subscription!

Change NEWSWEEK to NEWSREEK and it would be far more accurate.
