The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread SIX

*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

I can tell by my comments page that you have posted to me here at close to 9, and here it is almost 11 and it still isn't showing up on the thread.

I just got in from riding Harley, and think I have time to get Rusty rode too before it gets hot. But I'm debateing on going....I'm getting him shoed again on Mon. I've been riding him with those boots on his front feet, so they are fine, but he's got some chunks out on his back feet...I don't want them to be wore off and not be able to get shoes on him good. But it seems I get him going and then have to stop.....but I guess between now and Mon, won't make that much difference.

They're still having some issues with the forum this morning, but at least the speed is better :~D

I'm dallying on a thread about weddings and stuff - Today my main goal is again unrelated to horses.... getting the house in order for company :~\

Understood about Rusty.... are you still going to sell him?

Yes, he is for sale. I'm going to ride him next week for sure everyday after he's shoed, and if he continues to have no problems then I'll start advertising. He hasn't had a lock up in a long time. Every once in while when he comes running up from the back his back legs looks like it short steps, but it's getting better all the time, just slowly.

I can see why. If I ride where I need more leg protection I get the "kickers" out. Usually I just wear the ankle cut boots that are designed for riding though.
I almost busted my butt awhile ago. I've been doing some horse balance exrecises that I read about. One is to not use you arms to get up. I have that one down and it's helping me. Another is to put you shoes and socks on, standing without support. I was tieing my shoe in the bathroom. I probably looked like a drunk rocking back and forth but I got it:')

There is going to be another exposition in College Station next month. I had a blast the last time Eddie and I went. It's the 20th and my BD and Annv the 19th so I though that would be a fun place to go.

One is to not use you arms to get up
You mean not use your arms to get up on the horse, or not use your arms to get out of a chair? Woo boy if I tried to tie my shoes standing up without holding on to something, I'd fall right over! You could bet good money on that and win!

Oh no lol. Just balance exrecises during your daily routine. I take a matial art and getting up without your hands stressed so that's ok for me.

How do you mean getting up without your hands? Not using your hands to push yourself out of the chair? The Saddle Club thread is being strange about posts appearing. Your in my comments, but not on the thread. The reverse happened in a Post from 2jedismom to me, where she was on the forum, but not on my comments page till later.

I'm not talking about horses. I'm talking about getting out of bed, out of chairs etc, You just use stomach, back and leg muscles

We got a little of the after effects tonight. Pretty good thunder storm. That's good, because it's been very dry. High's in the 90's and very humid. This will cool it off some.

I am so glad to hear, it didn't hit you too bad.
