I wouldn't trust a dealer.
Call Toyota....they'll tell you that you don't need it.or they would have put it on the car..BTW..if you can..I'd find another dealer to take the car to for service. I wouldn't trust this one..
Almost all rust problems with cars start from the underside. The best preventative action is to hose out the wheel wells and bumper areas when washing the car and then run it down the highway to dry it oput.
My wife bought a Saturn with “permanent wax” in 93. It looked good for about 5-7 years, and then started to flake off the hood. It made the car look like absolute crap after that. I tried to remove it all with a pressure washer, but couldn’t remove some without risking damage to the paint.
I wouldn’t recommend it.

At least they are asking permission to put their hands in your wallet. I bought a new car in 2003 and every dealer in the metro with the vehicle I wanted said they wouldn't sell it without a $200 aftermarket sunscreen coating. Sux to live in a state with no lemon laws, too.
Looks like the consensus is that it works OK, but has to be re-applied annually and does not live up to the hype.

Well, I'm on a tight budget so we use Pam non-stick spray instead. So far so good, has a great butter taste.

I used to sell cars. We made a few hundred extra profit on every car by insisting on some special undercoating. It's a scam, actually.
