Pelosi on Osteen

Posted on 07/18/2005 8:06:49 PM PDT by Battle Hymn of the Republic

OK, what is it lately with some televangelists? My Aunt said that Osteen had Pelosi on his show yesterday. My Aunt who thinks highly of Osteen was shocked and super torqued at Osteen and TBN.

Before I get flamed, let me say I am servant of the Lord and mean no ill will, just prayers...

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Osteen is a cult of personality now. Televangelism is a dangerous thing when its the same people on there every week. Plus the heresy they preach in order to dig further into peoples pockets.

For Pelosi, it's just part of the 'crat attempt to connect with the solid religious center of our great country.

For Osteen, I'm not too sure how to explain it. I saw him and his lovely wife on Paula Zhan this evening. He said that he is not a political person. So Pelosi's presence in the New Lakewood Church may have been meaningless to him.

Osteen teaches people how NOT to become a democrat.
Having Pelosi on shows what can happen if people ignore the scriptures. Maybe he was using her as a prop.

Something about Olsteen doesn't feel right to me. Never has since the first time I saw him on TV. Something is not sincere.

But Osteen has waterfalls on the stage in the sanctuary!

(I'm having enough trouble with the concept of a sanctuary having a stage, let alone freakin' waterfalls.)

Osteen is the new Jim Baker.

He and his wife were on with Larry King tonight and I watched for a while out of curiosity.

Methinks it's mostly about the

She was at the service. They (not Joel) interviewed her after the service and she was visiting her daughter and said the next time she plans on going to Lakewood Church she will bring her grandchildren. She mentioned the church she attends - forgot the name but it was a Catholic Church. Isn't she pro-choice?

And when you drive by the Summit the only way to know it's a church is by reading the sign. Granted, they are still working on the outside so maybe they just haven't gotten around to putting the Cross up yet.

I'm still upset that they turned the Summit, scene of many a favorite concert in my teen years, into a freakin' charismatic church.

- cnn transcript, Larry King

KING: Because we've had ministers on who said, your record don't count. You either believe in Christ or you don't. If you believe in Christ, you are, you are going to heaven. And if you don't no matter what you've done in your life, you ain't.

OSTEEN: Yeah, I don't know. There's probably a balance between. I believe you have to know Christ. But I think that if you know Christ, if you're a believer in God, you're going to have some good works. I think it's a cop-out to say I'm a Christian but I don't ever do anything ...

KING: What if you're Jewish or Muslim, you don't accept Christ at all?

OSTEEN: You know, I'm very careful about saying who would and wouldn't go to heaven. I don't know ...

KING: If you believe you have to believe in Christ? They're wrong, aren't they?

OSTEEN: Well, I don't know if I believe they're wrong. I believe here's what the Bible teaches and from the Christian faith this is what I believe. But I just think that only God with judge a person's heart. I spent a lot of time in India with my father. I don't know all about their religion. But I know they love God. And I don't know. I've seen their sincerity. So I don't know. I know for me, and what the Bible teaches, I want to have a relationship with Jesus.
