A 16-year-old pianist is suing his teacher, claiming she confronted him on stage during a Carnegie Hall competition and slammed the keyboard cover on his fingers as they argued over what piece he would play.

Bryan O'Lone of Vineland also claims that Yalena Ivanov publicly berated him during the Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey event, stripped him of a $350 prize he had earned at an earlier organization event and barred him from taking part in a trip to a musical festival in Italy.

The teen and his family are seeking unspecified damages and a public apology from Ivanov, who founded the YPCNJ.

Teacher needs to grow up. Either that or listen to me play the piano! (I do a mean knuckles-rolling-over-black-keys song!)

Taxi?

Also--after the teacher slammed the piano keyboard cover the guy's fingers, she poked him in the eye, hooked a crowbar in his nostrils and pulled him from the stage---

It was actually just a Three Stooges routine.

.....Bryan O'Lone of Vineland also claims that Yalena Ivanov publicly berated him during the Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey event, stripped him of a $350 prize he had earned at an earlier organization event and barred him from taking part in a trip to a musical festival in Italy.......

?.....Only a $350 dollar 'prize'.....?

?Must be a contest for 'broken-fingered' piano players?

?.......this used to be a famous, NOT infamous 'Music-Hule'....

/sarcasm

Playing at Carnegie Hall story, told by an interviewer to Kreisler not long before Kreisler's death:

Rachmaninov at the piano, Fritz Kreisler on the violin, playing Beethoven's Kreutzer sonata. During the performance, Kreisler lost his way and started noodling (faking it). He leaned over to Rachmaninov and said "Sergei, where are we?" Rachmaninov says, "Why, Fritz, we're in Carnegie Hall!"

Kreisler laughed himself silly (cachinnated), and said, "What a wonderful story!" The he got dead serious and continued, "But it never happened. I NEVER lost my way during the Kreutzer sonata."

A 16-year-old pianist is suing...

Can you use the word 'pianist' on FR?

I took piano for 9 years. One of my teachers was a nun who would use a conductor's baton and smack my hands whenever I played a wrong note.

Sometimes I think it's a wonder I'm not a serial killer.
