Well, for Pete's sake if I can't pick Flash who?? Wahhhh lol

Oh well, instead of working on my team I've been checking out the photos over at Schraders M&M's Night Of Stars from last night here

I see pics of SlowCasey, Schrader, Kenny, Truex, flipper, Blaney, Hamilton and Jr (in street clothes) because since last years Sonoma accident he's not allowed to drive anything other than his Cup and Busch cars.

Night Of Stars report......

The race was a hoot. Experienced guys and guys with little idea of what they were doing. Spencer managed to scrape the wall twice during hot laps and his car wasn't able to start the race. You could really tell from the lines the drivers were taking through the corners which ones actually know how to drive dirt. You can't drive around the corners at a dirt track, certainly not the high banks of Pevely, you have to slide around and have your car pointed correctly when you're done to attack the next straightaway. Not everyone figured that out or was able to be consistent. They ran 8 laps, inverted the field, then 8 more. Martin managed to spin in the first half, though without hitting anything, and finished that half last, which meant he started on the pole for the second half. He actually managed to lead two laps before being passed by guys who knew what they were doing. Experienced guys won both halves -- Edwards the first and Kenny Wallace the second. We did get a backflip (taking off and landing on the track surface) from Carl. Kenny announced that he had his own signature move to introduce ...

...

...

the "dirt roll" somersault! He is a character! I must admit that I couldn't see that area of the frontstretch due to the people crowding the fence, but the response was cheers.

Dale did a gr8 job with the flags -- but of course. He mentioned afterwards that this was the first time he'd flagged a race, but he handled it like a pro. 1-to-go signal, green flag, caution flag, restart with the green, white, and checkered. Then the same in the second half, except for a caution. He looked like he was having a blast, and we did get that wonderful grin of his as he cheered Martin onward as they started the pace laps. That certainly seemed more fun for him than power-signing. Needed no help from Pevely's regular flagman, except to reach for the white and checkered flags from where they hang. The announcer teased him about not being impartial, since he was cheering on Martin.

One of our boys works at the Auto Zone headquarters in Memphis. They are going to be unveiling the 23 car for Kenny Wallace in the NASCAR/Busch series. Eddie our boy is going to do the unveiling.

RE: FRFL and picking Gordon this week

It seems none of you are "getting it."

You know when there is a late yellow and the followers do the opposite of the leader? "If he stays out, they come in; If he comes in, they stay out." That is what this week's strategy is in the FRFL -- it is like a late yellow.

The leaders are going to take Gordon. It is the time for those of us in the back of the pack to try and make up ground by picking someone else. . . .or remain behind the leaders.

That is so fabulous. Please have him pass along to the Auto Zone folks that Kenny has a lot of fans who were so happy to see him get this sponsor.

And, we will definitely do our shopping there when we need auto parts. Nascar fans always support their drivers sponsors and Kenny Wallace is probably one of the most popular drivers.

Thanks!! he is a financial analyst in the retail division. It will make him really happy to know that the fans are supporting Auto Zone. BTW Eddie is a big Dale Jarrett fan even though he used to work for Fed Ex. Loyalty to the driver since Gibbs Racing days.

You may want to check out this article from my local paper (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel) the other day on Smoke and his move back to Indiana. Just a quick taste of it - "And then there is Tony Stewart, the model citizen of Columbus, Ind., who'll let the neighbor's dog out or lunch at the Moose Lodge as just another member of the community in which he grew up."

Flipping through the channels, I ran into birthday boy Kurt Busch over on Fox Sports Net's "Best Damn Sports Show Period" (video available at MSN Video; search for "Birthday Busch"). Kurt will become the second NASCAR driver this year (the first was fellow birthday boy Jeff Gordon) to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at Wrigley Field during the 7th inning stretch Tuesday afternoon against the Cincinnati Reds (game starts at 1:20 pm Central). For those with WGN on their cable/satellite boxes, they WILL be carrying the game, and they always carry the 7th-inning stretch.
