Lawmakers Children in Iraq (Vanity)
Me

Posted on 08/20/2005 4:15:09 PM PDT by rightwingintelligentsia

After reading the umpteenth comment from a misinformed DUmmie that U.S. congressmen are not "sending" their kids to Iraq, I looked for a list of U.S. Senators and Congressmen with children serving in Iraq. Not finding one handy, I decided to try to compile one of my own. So far I've come up with five:

Rep. Joe Wilson (R) - South Carolina
Rep. Duncan Hunter (R) - California
Sen. Kit Bond (R) - Missouri
Rep. Todd Akin (R) - Missouri
Sen. Tim Johnson (D) - South Dakota

I know that one of the State Reps from Western PA (near me), John Pippy (R), served in Iraq himself and was actually elected in absentia while deployed.

Does anyone out there know of any others?

Just one D, hmmm.

Thanks for the list. Can't wait for CNN and NYT to run with this.

Not a senator: Patrick Daley, son of Chicago mayor (D), is in the Army. He was even a West Point Cadet.

None of the troops in Iraq were "sent" by their parents - they, themselves, volunteered to join the service of their choice.
