Martha Ann Freeman surrendered to police Monday after being indicted on first-degree murder charges in the death of her husband earlier this year.
Jeffrey Freeman was found dead inside the couple’s Nashville home in April.
The police investigation revealed that, unbeknownst to her husband, Martha Freeman had allowed her boyfriend, Rafael DeJesus Rocha-Perez, to live in the couple’s bedroom closet for several weeks before the murder.
Police believe Jeffrey Freeman discovered Rocha-Perez in the home on the night of April 10th when he came home and heard snoring. Police said Freeman ordered his wife to get Rocha-Perez out of the house while he went for a walk, but Martha Freeman told police that when Jeffrey returned, Rocha-Perez attacked him.
Police said Martha Freeman waited 18 hours before telling anyone what happened to her husband. They said she even ran some errands during the day on April 11th before asking one her neighbors to call police and tell them about the attack.
Martha Freeman, 40, has been released from jail on $75,000 bond.
Rafael DeJesus Rocha-Perez, 35, was arrested the day Jeffrey Freeman’s body was found and charged with criminal homicide. He has been in jail since his arrest.
Both Martha Freeman and Rafael Rocha-Perez are scheduled to go before a judge on August 31st.

She's a probable conspirator or accessory. Her "closet lover" reportedly did the killing. But she told a number of stories and delayed reporting the crime for a significant amount of time.
