Congratulations to Fox News. Virtually all of their correspondents covering Hurricane Katrina are correctly pronouncing the name of the city of Biloxi.
Meanwhile, MSNBC and CNN reporters are mostly butchering the correct pronunciation. How can reporters be elevated to national newscasts, and still not know something so elementary ?
For the record, it's BIL-LUCKS-EE, not "Bil-locks-ee".
Good grief, hearing many of these reporters mispronounce the city's name is like chalk squealing on a blackboard.
I wouldn't care really.
I generally just pronounce it "Redneck Riviera"
After being in North Texas for 13 years, I still can't understand how the locals pronounce "Waxahachie" and "Lancaster."
They say WOCKS-a-hat-chee and LANK-a-ster.
I guess...
FOX is doing a great job of covering Katrina. I've had them on all day and if I didn't have to be at work in the morning I would stay up all night watching them.
But can they get Nawlins right?
Whew! I'm glad that's straightened out.
Anybody from Pee Air SD care to comment?
I'm with you, who cares? I pronounce it however I want since their casinos love stealing my money

For thirty years I've been trying to tell my Yankee wife that it's Bil-ux-ee, but she won't listen. You know what they say: You can always tell a Yankee, but you can't tell 'em much.
