Other events from the show--from Reuters
In a ceremony largely devoid of the kind of outrageous antics many viewers hope to see, many of the winners including Missy Elliott and Ludacris thanked or acknowledged God in their speeches.
Host Sean "Diddy" Combs, who recently dropped the "P." from his name, ended the show wearing a white t-shirt that read, "God is the greatest."
But rap mogul Marion "Suge" Knight was shot in the leg early on Sunday at a star-studded party at a posh Miami Beach club in advance of the gala ceremony which was held at Miami's AmericanAirlines Arena.
No suspects have been identified and Knight was recovering after surgery to remove the bullet.

Despite host Diddy's exhortation that viewers "get your TIVOs ready 'cause anything can happen" at the awards, there were few unruly or controversial moments.
Combs himself went for a bit of shock value by stating that "there will be no obscenity nor vulgarity allowed tonight," before launching into bleeped out string of expletives.
Way to keep it classy, P. Diddy, or whatever the hell you call yourself. Wonder if he was still wearing his "God Is The Greatest" t-shirt when he did this.

I wonder if the moonbats and conspiracy kooks are going to add Kelly to the list of satanist elites who give the Longhorn salute?

Former "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson continued to build her rock cred by winning Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for her single, "Since U Been Gone."
Clarkson has "rock" cred? Is she scheduled to join Ozzfeat next?
To: silent_jonny
No, then she would be a "Christian" and everyone knows that is much worse. :)

vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong said, "It's great to know rock music still has a place on MTV.Ten years ago Green Day was a clever little band with a couple of catchy songs. Today they they're a clever little band of has-beens with a hyperactive manager. Are they really the best there is?

I'm not a Green Day fan by any stretch, but I have to admit their "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" is a very good song.

Of the bands that get played on MTV they are. Except for Audioslave who doesn't show up that often on MTV and really have subpar videos. Green Day's new album is really pretty good despite it being anti-Bush. A good song is a good song in my book.

I'll admit that one, maybe two songs on their latest are OK, but no way justify their domination last night. And NO song on their new album comes close to their earlier singles. IMO

You'll have to be more specific :) Green Day has done their share of Bush-bashing--their current album is called "American Idiot". Wonder who they're referring to?

That picture of Kelly is FAR from attractive... she was much prettier before American Idol than after.

It's not my favorite photo either (that would be either of the gold dress pics), but that photo was taken after she performed under a water fountain on stage. Her hair was dry at the beginning of the song.
