I made a point of watching the VMAs last night just to see Kelly, but I must say it was more like torture than entertainment.
I don't doubt that. I forgot the show was on, but I don't think I could've stomached it regardless.
She was so surprised when she won her first award that she told the audience she wasn't prepared and didn't "bring a posse."
And I hope she never does :) Thanks for that photo--she looked great in that dress, didn't she?
The tattoo is visible in this photo. First time I've seen it.
During his "P. Diddy" phase, Conan O'Brien cracked that the "P" stood for "Pretentious" :)
Oh really?
Well if this offends you ...
... then Heaven help you if you ever run into Courtney Love.
Predictable comment from you.
LOL!
But Kelly should be in a burka--I mean, we can see her belly button for Allah's sake!!! :)
3M Spray Adhesive.
Last night about 11:30pm Pacific time, I heard the news about a levee break and flooding in downtown New Orleans on CNN. Even the anchor there, Rick Sanchez, didn't seem to grasp the significance of what he was hearing from a Tulane University Hospital VP he was interviewing by phone. But I, the once -- and apparently thanks to FR, future -- reporter knew instantly that it meant total devastation for the city.
So I ran over to my PC, got online and posted a breaking news thread. This morning, the cable news stations still don't seem to have quite gotten it yet, even though they've reported flooding in the city. However, our local KTLA TV Channel 5 happens to have one of their people stranded in the city. Kurt Knudtsen (sp?) was just talking to them by land line. Turns out its still working in the hotel where he's at because its on a slightly higher bit of ground than the surrounding area, and the lines are underground there. No telling how long they'll continue to work, but for now he's able to give updates to the folks back here at KTLA.
What he describes is devastating. Looting. Shooting. There are fires in a couple of buildings in the city due to gas lines that have not been shut off. Eight feet of water surrounds his hotel. The hotel staff have said anyone who leaves doesn't get back in because of the civil unrest outside. They are down to food rationing. A piece of fruit this morning, a muffin for lunch, don't know about dinner. He says it's getting to the point where soon it will be every person for themselves as desperation and hunger set in. I'm going over to the live hurricane thread to post this since I don't know where else to put it.
AAck! She's a nightmare(Courtney Love). Never can understand what some see in her.
I have kind of a silly question which is somewhat on topic.
Wolfstar, you said she has a Christian cross tattoo. Is it true that the bible says it's a sin to "desecrate" our bodies? I have heard some say that tattoos are a desecration. Now I'm paranoid, because if it's true, I'm going to hell for sure!
Mmmmmmmm...Kelly definitely got some junk in da trunk.
Kelly lookin' goood :D
Ahhh, my eyes!!
Courtney Love -- what a skank!
You have tattoos? I never imagined that :) But don't worry about it. God's love is stronger than any tattoo.
I Googled and found this site on the subject. http://members.aol.com/GlennS1956/religion.html
Never having lived near water, I must admit I didn't understand how serious a levee break was either. But after looking at the pictures you posted ... wow ...
You are so sweet jonny! Yes, I have two. A daisy on my foot and a cross on my lower back with a heart in the middle and my children's initials in the outer top three edges. It's quite tasteful. ;)
Thanks for the link, I will check it out. Very thoughtful of you.
Guy, you wrote: "I think she is a below average looking girl..."
As a straight female, I know I'll never fully understand how straight men look at women. However, I can certainly recognize and appreciate a classically beautiful woman, just as I can appreciate a beautiful work of art. Thing is, the old cliche is true. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
Even so, I agree. Kelly is not beautiful in the classic sense. She's more of a girl-next-door type. By no means unattractive. Her looks may not be to your taste, Guy, but on the music boards I frequent, I see many posters who find her pretty and sexy.
In a number of respects, she reminds me of the young Judy Garland, who was also not a beauty. She was a plump, awkward teenager with an astonishing voice when Louis B. Mayer began filling her up with amphetamines to help her lose weight. At least these days, talented young people like Kelly have the chance to avoid the tragedy that happened to Garland.
As regards her "growing bank account," there's a reason for it. The girl works extremely hard. She's been on tour almost non-stop since around February or March. She'll soon be touring in the UK and Australia. And her talent has made her 2nd CD, Breakaway, one of the biggest selling albums in the WORLD this year. It's reached the top ten in many countries besides the U.S. All three of the singles released from it so far have soared to the top of charts here at home and elsewhere. Her fourth single from the album was released about three weeks ago and it's flying up the charts. Looks like yet another smash hit.
It's rare for any album to have one hit song. Even the best selling albums by top artists seldom have more than one or two big hit singles. Kelly is working on her fourth from just her 2nd CD. She had three hits from her first CD. I heard 'Miss Independent' from her first album on the radio here in L.A. twice today on two different stations.
Radio loves her. Now she's won two significant industry awards, and expectations are high that she'll get at least one Grammy nomination for best pop song (Since U Been Gone).
Despite her success, the girl -- so far, at least -- has remained the same slightly dorky, sweet, refreshing charmer that so many people fell in love with during AI #1.
Physical beauty can carry any individual a long way in this world, but when all is said and done, physical beauty isn't everything. Kelly has plenty of assets.
Speaking of ass-ets, so many guys on the music forums gush over her's that it makes me laugh. (Guys are such dorks when it comes to female body parts.) Apparently, she's considered to have one of the best in the business right now. :-)
You are right, conservativebabe. Jonny is sweet. Thanks for posting that photo which shows Kelly's tatoo, Jonny.
C'babe...I can't imagine a loving, merciful God being so petty as to worry about whether or not humans decorate their bodies with tatoos. In the great scheme of things, tatoos are so minor as to have no significance at all, other than to the wearer. If yours make you happy, enjoy them.
The way I look at the world, God never would have given us the capacity to experience pleasure and joy if he didn't want us to do pleasing things.
Thank you for your kind words. I like that philosophy. :)
