"Nobody better wreck him!"
I'll second that!
I'll be home for this one. I'll be up all Friday night and Saturday morning smoking some whole beef briskets, "Low and Slow" (about sixteen hours at 250 degrees) over 100% mesquite coals.
I am glad I missed California. But I still have Truex, Jr. and Menard to cheer on in the Busch series!
I've never hear of MOST of them.LOL
Thanks for the ping. Do we get to see practice before we pick? Have already changed, don't know if it's for the better, because after two weeks, they needed a break! :)
DJ amazed me. I'm glad he retaliated. Too many young drivers doing too many stupid things, then saying, "Oh, I didn't mean that." - like all is forgiven.
I was talking to a guy who's dad has been around racing most of his life. He says that in the old days of NASCAR you would bump someone when they were going into a turn. That way they don't lose it because they have their foot on the brake. These youngsters like to bump coming out of a turn when you have your foot on the gas, and thus less control. End result is you get spun out. Newman put DJ from 7th back to 31st with his "unintentional" bump. DJ hit the wall messing up the rear end of his car and spoiler. The 2 lap penalty he got for retaliation only meant DJ would never get any better than 31st (and no worse). It didn't matter what happened after that; DJ was out of the Race for the Chase. Had DJ finished 7th (probably wouldn't have, but we'll never know, will we) he would be within 15-20 points of 10th. Only thing for him to do was to ruin Ryans day at Bristol - glad he did it.
Thanks for the ping. This should be a knock-down drag-out.
I'm so proud, my youngest daughter won her first stock car race! Well, sort of. We went to our local 1/3 mile track last night, and they had a goofy race where competing DJ's are supposed to go at it with kids pushing the car 1/4 of the way around the track. One of the DJ's decided to have a kid drive, and he pushed. My youngest, Abbie (she's 9), was chosen to drive, and her car won. I'm still very proud!
Thank you for hosting this weeks thread!
Waay to go Abbie.
What does she want to be when she grows up? You may have a budding Erin Crocker on your hands. I have to put up the entry list I think she may be running the Busch race this weekend.
Pics?
Thank you glock. :~)
Weather looks good for now.
LOL, Erin Crocker is from my hometown, and went to RPI with my coworker, as I mentioned previously.
I did not manage to get any pics, but I will check the tracks website for some. Abbie is not my biggest race fan in the house. She wants to be a nurse or a waitress at the Chowder Pot restaurant in town. I'm OK with the nurse option.
My oldest (15) is really bugging me to put together a street stock car for her next year. She learned how to run a bobcat in about 5 minutes, so a car should be no problem.
She introduced me to a friends dad who has already offered to help with building the cage and doing the setup for the track. He may even have a suitable car available.
My dad did it for me, so I guess I'm going to have to go through with this, as long as the grades keep up.
BTW, I like the 29 paint scheme this week!
Sounds like a lot of fun for the kids and you!!
I personally think something they want to do like this is a great incentive to keep grades up. My daughter always wanted to be an ice skater so we did the lessons and practice 2-3 times a week. She still loves it. I know, I should have taken her to the dragstrip more often or something. :)
Erin will be qualifying for the Busch race, I just checked.
My pleasure on putting up the race thread.

[note: all drivers were listed, I only copied a partial list so it wouldn't be so long]
You're welcome.
There are about 6 cars that are vulnerable Saturday night. There's gonna be a lot of bumping & banging and begging on the track & deal making up on the spotters stand. Friends can help friends/teammates and depending on who they've bumped the rest of the year, some may be in trouble asking for a favor now.
No, only one practice that I can see and it's on Friday along with qualifying. Going to double check Nascar now.
I either had to put it up last night or this morning. It's too tough to do first thing in the morning for me. :)
There's a truck race tonight as well as an IROC race, I will put up the info in a little while.
Drivers unhappy with leaving RIR...Track not on the new trucks schedule; call is unpopular in garage
In the 10-year existence of the Craftsman Truck Series, perhaps no other track can claim as large a chunk of its heritage as Richmond International Raceway.
Before adding the historic high banks of Daytona International Speedway as its season opener in 2000, the bright lights of RIR provided the high-wattage marquee event for a once-fledgling series conceived around the appeal of racing pickup trucks.
During the 1990s, before Daytona and Homestead-Miami Speedway emerged as premier bookends to the truck season, RIR was the circuit's crown jewel with the rapt attention of the Busch and Nextel Cup series as well as a national television audience.
"From an exposure standpoint, it's probably our Daytona 500," Bob Keselowski said after winning the third race here in 1997.
Richmond is the only charter track of the Craftsman Truck Series to play host to the trucks, Busch and Nextel Cup on the same weekend every year since the series was formed from humble beginnings in 1995. As defunct ovals in North Wilkesboro, N.C., Saugus, Calif., and Flemington, N.J., from Year 1 fell off the schedule, RIR remained a truck fixture - until the 2006 season.
Tonight's Cheerios Betty Crocker 200 will mark the 11th consecutive September truck race at RIR and perhaps its last. Next season, the date will move to an October weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.
Series and track officials say the option to return remains open, but many longtime truck drivers aren't happy with the decision.
"That's a tragedy, because I'd rather race here six times vs. Talladega once," Jack Sprague said. "At Talladega and Daytona, it's not racing. It's a crapshoot. You're more likely going to come out of those places with a torn-up truck. Here, you can control what's going on. This is racing."
