But someone left her bedroom window open and, as Caroline watched in horror, a sudden gust carried the floating Mousie out the window, past the maple tree in the backyard, over the rooftop and gone.

I had several guinea pigs as a kid, and even though I took such good care of them, none of them lived very long. And they were every bit as affectionate and loyal as the family dog.

Yeah, you got that right - but isn't "long run-on sentence" a redundancy? I can't recall ever seeing a SHORT run-on sentence....

In other news a group of gerbils destined for the bay area are holed up at a pet wholesaler demanding not to be shipped to SanFransico.
Leaders of the gerbils had apparently recently seen a disturbing south park episode.
