Does danger lurk in your kitchen?
Picture this: a mother is cooking in her kitchen. Are the pots and pans she is cooking in sloooowwwwlllly endangering her family's health? The folks in the scare-mongering biz certainly want you to think so!
Several major media outlets, such as NBC's Today show, have suggested that a chemical compound (PFOA) used to make Teflon and other non-stick coatings may pose a risk to consumers who cook with the Teflon-coated cookware.
Also, two law firms recently filed a $5-billion class-action suit, saying DuPont failed to warn consumers about the dangers of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) a chemical that is supposedly in Teflon.
Teflon products dont contain PFOA. Theyre simply manufactured using PFOA, none of which ends up in the finished product. So the truth of the matter is that your Teflon coated pots and pans are safe.
As usual, though, reporters are confusing the issue and scaring lots of folks. Theyre saying that the Teflon chemical might cause cancer, so your cookware may not be safe.
Guess they haven't read the overwhelming number of articles and reports to the contrary:

We're all gonna die we're all gonna die!
I recommend always cook on your BBQ.
I've got enough to worry about with Flouride in the water, Global warming, Ozone hole, and second hand smoke..............
BBQ fills your food with carcinogens!........
Only when my husband cooks.
Youbetcha
I'm shocked.
If they win we'll all get a coupon for a frying pan and the lawyers will be able to buy more sports franchises.
In our house it is just the opposite. As the kids said when they were small: YOUR NOT LETTING MOM COOK ARE YOU???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How much Styrofoam dissolves in your take out coffee each morning? That would make a good study. Is that daily dose of Styrofoam good for your health?
Depends on who's cooking.
Depends on who's cooking.
"Does danger lurk in your kitchen?"
Only when my wife does the cooking.
Mine is when my kids try to bake!!
No! It causes taste bud cancer!
I think the lawyers at these two law firms should be each hit on the head with a Teflon-coated frying pan. ;-)You be a pain in the ass, you get a pain in the head.
No, I use salt and pepper.
Danger lurks throughout my house!!
Danger is my Kitchen's middle name! No wait, my kitchen only has one name so, Danger is my Kitchen's first name!
Yeah, that's it "Danger Kitchen".
Oddly enough, where ever I go in my house there is a gun nearby, usually in my pocket or elsewhere on my person. There is a refrigerator sized steel box in the rumpus room that is plum full of guns, so I hereby name that room, the Rumpus Danger Room!
The front hall of my home has an antique barometer that utilizes a glass tube full of mercury! Aaaarrrggghhhh! Mercury! We're all going to die. A significant amount I'm sure migrates to the Danger Kitchen freezer, where it infiltrates the fish sticks. Fish are like magnets for mercury.
Don't get me started on the bathroom.
Use the iron frying pan. Teflon causes cancer........
