'99 Victory v-92C, Red metallic/black, 1507cc, ohc, efi, built by Polaris in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Quite a few of these in central Maine, snowmobile country. Sorry no pic, camera batteries dead as usual. BTW, what is freepmail? I'd like to get on the pinglist.

Scooters are selling very well these days, especially in the college communities.

Nice bike! An SV will probably be my next one (and first new one) after I outgrown the GS....

Hi LQ ~ in 2000 I sold my '91 1200 Sportster thinking I was all through riding ~ two weeks later I got the bug again and ordered the SV650.

I bought my first motorcycle in 1948 and have been riding ever since except for four years in the late 50's and early 60's, when I went though my sports (Corvette, Austin Healey LeMans and Lotus Super 7) car phase. ;)

Sounds like my hubby - he's been riding since he's 16, and he's 53 now. Hubby's been a Honda guy for all that time - 305 Dream, CB450, then new CB750F and now a 919. He still has the last 2, rides the 919 and is restoring the 750.

I'm still a noob - passed the MSF last summer and got my license, didn't get out of the parking lot until last August  .

At least we can go riding together now - I never liked sitting on the back much but I like riding my own a lot.

I got my first one when I was in the Navy ~ I was 18, I'll be 75 in October.

Riding your own is much better then riding behind someone.

I never ride them. I just stand near them and look great.

I asked the Mod to delete one of them ~ I guess they're too busy chasing trolls. ;);)

This is me in the old days at Sears Point.

This is my Duc, I affectionately refer to as "Ruptured Duc" or "Spaghetti Western" if I have my cowboy boots on!

I loved that SV650 motor, but the frame is a too small for me. So I ride it's long legged brother: (DL650 vstrom)

It's a fantastic bike from a lousy company. much more "solid" feeling than a Harley, great gobs of torque, very neutral weight and balance, with a low feeling center of gravity for good low speed manuverability too. I can spend a whole day on it and still be ready to get back on. And it's nice to turn a few heads with a bike you don't see every day. But it has a fatal flaw in the transmission, which is well known among early Victory owners that Polaris is unwilling to admit to. The gearboxes are failing and shifting themselves, finding false neutrals, and generally sucking on many of these bikes. Polaris has released an "update kit" for $1700 plus labour. Subsequent models have the problems corrected. Some dealers with some clout are able to get a "deal" for certain customers, like half off on the parts, after inspecting the innards of the bike. Aside from the threat of the bike turning itself into a paperweight at 13k miles or so, it's a great machine, but my next ride will probably be a Sportster unless Polaris steps up and fixes these older, flawed bikes.

The DL650 is a great bike!

I'm 5'7" with a 28" inseam, the SV650 fits the old curmudgeon just fine. ;)

I just ordered a Corbin seat; it's a little lower and softer. ;)

I like the impalers on the top of the forks. Geez, a guy could draw blood just taking that bike off the trailer! Any explosives on the bike, say, tied to the alarm system?
