I thought a support harness would be helpful, too! He's going to spend some time at the vets, starting tomorrow, maybe they will look at that option. The vet came out this afternoon, took the shoes off, soaked his feet in ice, gave him more drugs and suggested that I take him in to the office and leave him. I wasn't home for any of this, I let my husband handle it. I can't talk about Tuffy without blubbering like a blithering idiot so I stayed away. I am taking Tuffy in tomorrow, by myself. I think I can manage that. At least we are doing something.

All those meds I gave him before the vet got there really masked the lameness. They need to take him off all pain meds while he's staying at the vet clinic so they can see how bad he is.

That means they made him more comfortable, and that's a good thing.

Keep us posted.

That's so sad about your daughter's dog. We sure get attached to our animals, don't we? Kids are resilient and will bounce back but I sure hate telling them about a sick or dying animal. Tuffy is by far the favorite here, none of the other horses have his silly personality.

I think leaving him at the vet is a good idea. You should at least be able to get a solid answer on the best course good or bad...not knowing what to do is what makes the decisions so hard.

Continued thoughts for you and Tuffy:)

Good morning:)

It looks like it's going to be a glorious day here:). This afternoon will be perfect for a ride.

Jenny hasn't progressed any since her last doctor's appointment. Which is good. I'm hoping she gets a week or so off from work before the baby gets here. She needs some rest:). She's hit that stage where she just can't get comfortable and so she's not sleeping a whole lot at night. She's got ribs on one side that are sore from the kid pushing on them so much. Her blood pressure is Ok tho, and that was a relief.

She starts the only job she's really been offered so far today, the state job interview is a week from today, and the other interview will be a second interview but it's not scheduled yet. So she'll work this one, probably make time for those two interviews just to see if they come to anything, and by next week she'll have a pretty good idea if this job is gonna be a good one.

Well, I think I'm going to head to town, and get my feed while it's still a bit cool, then come home and work in my garden till after lunch, then ride. I'm really looking forward to getting on a horse:)

The Horses In my Life

Horse C: Foxy

Foxy is a Tennessee Walker black mare. She has a bit of a shy nature, so I wasn't able to get very close. These pictures aren't too recent, and now her forelock is grown over her eyes, and her mane is grown down past her neck.

We always go see the horses in the late afternoon, so these pictures aren't in complete daylight. Also, she's black and she blends in with the dark!

Good Morning!

I suppose I haven't told you all what I am doing this weekend. As soon as dad gets off work today, we're taking off to a place called 'The Big Cedar Lodge' until sometime Sunday. There will be fancy brunches, Daily Walks, and best of all, Horses. We will get to trailride on Sunday, and I have read that it is not the sit-on-your-butt-while-the-horse-does-the-driving-the-horse-knows-more-about-the-trail -than-you-follow-the-horse-in-front-of-yours-fall-asleep-in-the-saddle-and-the-horse-keeps-going kind of trail ride. We will walk and trot for sure, and maybe MAYBE a lope, but no gallop. I can't wait!!
