Can any FReepers out there recommend good beer to try? I am really into lagers and good German Beer like Samuel Adams, Chechvar and Warsteiner. Does anyone have any suggestions that may be up my alley?

Thank you in advance

I don't know where you are, so I don't know if you can buy it locally, but if you can, for sheer beer goodness, you cannot beat Shiner Bock.

If you like thicker, stronger beers with a strong flavour, go Canadian microbrewery. Sleeman's and Creemore. And, if you like strong, but thin and strong flavoured, Sir Alexander Keith's.

White Rhino isn't bad either; I think it's English.

If you can find it, try a Straubie! (North Central PA)

The best beer to get would be that brewed in Germany. This beer is NOT pasteurized and therefore neither lasts nor travels well. however, if you go there , go to any of the town breweries - they are ALL exceptional and will have something, somewhere to your liking. Failing that, Pauliner Special is a good Choice. So is Spaten and Doppel Spaten if you like darker beers. THen, their is the granddaddy of all pilsners and that is Pilsner Urquel - from what is now the Chech Republic. Pilsners originated from Pilsen, which is in The Chech Rep.

Enjoy.

Engineer rhymes with beer - and vice versa.

The best beer is the beer you brew yorself. Otherwise, I think someone mentioned Yuengling already

If you can make it up to Wisconsin, I recommend the New Glarus line of beers (they don't ship out of Wisconsin, sadly).

Gordon Biersch, brewed locally in San Jose. Among the best in America.

Just the opinion of Prost Eins!

"The best beer is the beer you brew yourself."

You know what they say..."Give a man a beer, he'll waste an hour. Teach a man to brew, he'll waste a lifetime."
