can you own a weapon in Philly?...or is this guy the fortunate result of ignoring the gun grabbers and saying, "I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6".

The sad part is ... is that it is easier to get a gun permit in PA than it is to get one in NJ..... its just ... sad.

Philly is actually a pretty nice town... there are sections you could not pay me to live in of course... but thats everywhere.... Like any big city there is good and bad. I just don't care for the bad and am glad this guy ain't going to be charged with a crime.

The sheeple don't realize that the police have no constitutional obligation to protect individuals from private individuals.
In 1856, the U.S. Supreme Court (South v. Maryland) found that law enforcement officers had no affirmative duty to provide such protection.
In 1982 (Bowers v. DeVito), the Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit held, "...there is no Constitutional right to be protected by the state against being murdered by criminals or madmen."
So, every time some moron says 'what do you need a gun for'; you tell them about this story. The cops were not there to protect this fireman. He may be dead in this case if not for being personally armed.

Lesson: Don't get into a fire fight with a firefighter.
