Oct. 25, 2005) -- This is how the NFL's 32 teams stack up after Week 7:

IN THE HUNT (Teams that look good enough to be among the 12 playoff qualifiers but not based on conference -- listed with record and previous week's ranking)

1. Indianapolis (7-0; unchanged): The Colts get an extra week of rest for a prime-time showdown in New England; history suggests they'll need it.

2. Pittsburgh (4-2; 9): The Steelers showed who's boss in the AFC North, and the roll should continue against Baltimore.

3. Tampa Bay (5-1; 4): It's the Buccaneers' turn to beat up on the 49ers.

4. Denver (5-2; 2): The Broncos defense was dominant against the Giants -- until the final drive.

5. Jacksonville (4-2; unchanged): The Jaguars have a chance to make it three in a row against the banged-up Rams.

6. Cincinnati (5-2; 3): Carson Palmer says the Bengals are better than the Steelers, but the scoreboard still hasn't changed its mind.

7. New England (3-3; unchanged): If Tedy Bruschi is healthy enough to make an impact, the Patriots will have received an unexpected gift.

8. Atlanta (5-2; unchanged): The Falcons enter their bye feeling good, but they'll feel better if Michael Vick cleans up his game.

9. Seattle (5-2; 12): The Seahawks have an extra week to ponder how they won a game with minimal production from the league's top offense.

10. Philadelphia (4-2; 11): The Eagles keep flying in the face of conventional football wisdom that says you can't win if you don't run the ball.

11. N.Y. Giants (4-2; unranked): Eli Manning is growing up fast, which is not good news for the rest of the NFC East.

12. Washington (4-2; unranked): With all of their offensive firepower and defensive strength, the Redskins seem to have the necessary ingredients for a brutal stretch vs. the Giants, Eagles and Buccaneers.

Thank God the NFL doesn't use a system like this to pick who'll play in the Super Bowl. Of course the NCAA doesn't see anything wrong with such a system.

New York Football Giants Ping List

Ping Ultra Sonic 007 to get on or off this ping list.

First off, new picture featuring Eli Manning, who's had two very convincing comeback drives in as many weeks. Mara passed on knowing he left the G-Men in good hands.

And secondly, the Jints moved up a few spots. So yay.

Houston Texans (0-6)

*sigh* Just wait'll next year.....

Being 0-6 still beats having Bud Adams running the team.

It's fun being a Steelers fan living in Ravens territory!

If Indy can get past New England, they'll have finally earned No.1

David Carr is a good quarterback. The entire offensive line should be fired.

San Diego has got to be the best under .500 team out there. Tough luck for them they should be closer to 5-2.

I don't expect #1 and #2 to change.... until #2 beats #1 in a few weeks.

It was soooo painful watching the Cowboy's game against the Seahawks.

Exactly how many games have they lost by missing an early field goal?

I am officially done picking the Browns in my weekly pick'em league.

They are going to ruin the dream season for the Texans this weekend too

Hey, the Lions are division leaders with a chance to take sole possesion of the lead this Sunday - playing at home no less.

Go Lions! Playoffs here we come!

(Oh, who am I kidding....they suck! But Sunday will tell us if they suck less than the rest of the NFC North....)

IO.K.-here goes-I was wrong about Eli. I wanted them to keep Collins and the picks. I would have drafted Sean Taylor because I thought the D needed an impact player (they still do, but a franchise QB is more important.

That kid is going to be great. We just need to show some patience because we keep expecting him to put up 40 point games. That drive was simply unbelievable. Rolling to his left away from pressure to find Burress, stepping up away from pressure on the 3rd and long to hit Shockey in stride, and backpedalling away from pressure to fire a strike to Toomer....wow.
