Never will understand why some men think it is OK to unilaterally decide to murder a man's child -- simply because [he's no longer married to/living with/dating her].

Oh, give her a break. She has come a long way. I remember her 20 years ago as a gorgeous, but very nutty and confused young woman.
To expect her to now be a Constitutional conservative is asking a bit much for her. I see her glass as half-full.

Your two-sentence post captures it perfectly.

How much of that is believable? She's either a dingbat or she's lying. She's neither. You might try reading "The Death of Right and Wrong: Exposing the Left's Assault on our Values and Culture", before deciding.

And I never understood how so many men couldwalk away from their children. But they do.

Yup - I bet it depends on stare decisis. If he agrees it is settled law, there will be less opposition to his appointment.
On other Free Republic posts, riots in the streets are expected if Roe v Wade is overturned.
To: Pukin Dog
I haven't followed her career, and will take into account your observations. But it's the sheer ignorance of constitutionalism in a presumably intelligent woman that drives me up the wall.
To: governsleastgovernsbest
Geez....what's Tammy's problem?
She wants a woman appointed.
Well she had one and didn't like her.
Too bad, Tammy......learn to live with it!

Legislation in this area is appropriate, I think, but not on the grounds you cite. How can you possibly construe this as being part of a marriage contract?

5{Right and Wrong" is really excellent. She may seem too liberal for life-long or uber-conservatives, but speaking from the POV of an ex-lib who is learning & growing into conservativism, she has the ability to swing others to the right side.

Are you saying a woman who has custody of her child and neglects her child is clear under the law? What planet are you on? There are many laws that hold custodial parents to a standard of care for their child, and that does cost them money.

Read between the lines on this.
The law here is about notificaton, not his permission. What are some reasons a woman would not want her spouse to know she is gettin an abortion?
My first thought is that he isn't the father.

But the only issue that a judge should take into account is whether the statute violates the constitution. If it doesn't, then he has no basis to overturn it, regardless of whether he personally thinks such legislation is advisable. Almost.
The only issue that a judge should take into account is whether the statue is explicitly allowed by the Constitution. If it isn't, then there is no basis to enact/enforce it, regardless of whether he personally thinks such legislation is desireable.
To: HitmanNY
Yup, I was thinking that too. He should get a heads up to be tested for STDs.
