Thanks for your very kind comments. You even got my gender right (many assume I'm a man for some reason).

That's a nice drawing of Churchill on your home page and a powerful (old) quote by him. He was very far-sighted.

Have you heard the Teaching Company lectures on Churchill by Rufus Fears? Another Freeper, jalisco555, turned me on to him. Dr. Fears brings history alive. I've enjoyed the Teaching Company CDs on Robert Greenberg's history of music for years. It is always wonderful to learn (that's why I love being a professor). I'm absorbed into the history of the Renaissance DVDs by William Kloss now. 18 hours of lectures for $99 when on sale. Definitely worth it. I know much of this, but I'm learning much more.

Thx for your comment on my drawing of Churchill. I am a writer, but I find the visual arts a close parallel. Some observers have written on Hemingway's cubism of literature. My style is not visual so much as musical.

But the linkeage to other forms of art (other media) is powerfully helpful...
