recently had a 1987 Reserve CabOpus One had a few good vintages LONG ago. Since they expanded the production and started outsourcing the fruit it went downhill fast. Over-rated and over priced. I've never met anyone who thought Opus was better than Mondavi's best reserve cabs. JMO.

The '96 Opus One was by and far their best. That was the last year it was even worth drinking. I can't say that I can compare the Opus One with a Mondavi Reserve Cab, the Opus is a Bordeaux style blend, while the Cab is a single varietal, they are just different wines. If I had to choose between buying one or the other, it based on price and performance I have to agree that the Mondavi Reserve is the way to go.
