I read that she will have to take a drug regimen for life to stop the immune response. The same docs did a hand transplant where the guy got sick of the regimen and eventually had the new hand amputated.

This isn't news. Hillary Clinton is getting a new face as we speak. Only difference is that this delicate operation isn't being performed by surgeons, it's being performed by the New York Times.

Why not just go for broke and replace her entire face. The scars from the sutures would be less noticeable.

It seems abhorrent but it must be done in order to be perfected. People left permanently disfigured when a solution is possible is unethical in the extreme.
Organ transplants were as horrific in the beginning, today they are near routine procedures.

And they call this an upgrade?
Did this package include the teeth too, or were those an extra cost option?

They have the blood vessels hooked up, but what about the nerves? Can she move her transplanted lips and nose?

Nonsense, you guys. Good for her. It looks amazingly clean for such a complex surgery.
Poor girl had serious trauma to her face. I hope all goes well.

Not a bad rework on a face. I'll be curious to see what she looks like when the sutures are removed and the swelling goes down.
I really hope she pulls through. Disfigurement of the face can be such a burden.

My brother just died of skin cancer. I wonder if someone who has a bad case of skin cancer on his head and face could have the skin transplanted from someone else and then stop the cancer.
Interesting case.
