RE: Your comment:
Today the press would shine spotlights up so the enemy could see where to bomb... Right on the nose! Well said, thank you for the insight, that's just what they are trying to do!

I am just getting home - didn't get to hear our Presidents speech so I need a quick update.
Was it AWESOME or awful?
The reason why I ask. I listened to Randy Roads on the way home. She and her callers were laughing about what an "IDIOT Bush is", how he can't speak, etc. She kept talking about how there were no applause times and just dead silence and that the cameras were "ordered" to stop showing the audience because they were all asleep.
I just absolutely HATE liberals!!!

Oh, thank you for sharing that letter with us. How encouraging and complimentary. Of course you are proud and I am proud, too. After all Ev is one of our "adopted" sons. I'm the friend of the mother of Ev! That's close enough and so I claim him.
The letter has brightened my day.

Was it AWESOME or awful? It was awesome. It outlined quite distinctly the economic progress that has been made in Iraq and how the Iraqis are taking more responsibility for the running of their country.
Particularly highlighted was Mosul and Najaf. We've opened schools, trained police and militia, pushed back the insurgency and created jobs. People are beginning to go about their business, even create businesses, dine at restaurants and visit religious shrines which have been long abandoned due to the problems with the terrorists.
President Bush ended by nailing the RATS on their cut and run strategy (they admire the French SOOOooo much) and promised again that as long as he's CIC we will never abandon the fight.

Here is
a link to the Live Thread. If I did it right, the page will open on the reply which links to the White House transcripts.

I have no idea who Randy Roads is. I'm assuming she is someone paid to run her uninformed mouth. Apparently she didn't listen to the speech but was following a predetermined gripe sheet. It doesn't really matter what President Bush said, she had already made up her mind and just filled in the blanks to fit what was on her gripe sheet. My advice: don't listen to her. Get some
Adventures in Odyssey tapes and listen to them instead.
She was right about there being little applause. He was speaking to a hostile audience. They were predisposed, as was this Roads person, to not accepting what he had to say. But the speech was chock-full of facts, not hysterical emotional lines, and they couldn't refute the facts. There was scattered, but strong when it was, applause on at least two occasions. There was no heckling or booing. I thought it was rather well received. I don't think the cameras were ordered not to show the audience. I have no info on that one way or the other. I suspect Miss Roads doesn't either.

This is a picture of the President at the speech today. It is not as vibrant a group as the military is, but then, it wasn't supposed to be.

Mary, I got your freepmail. I'll reply when the package gets here so you'll know. I think Ev is going to like his package. We're so proud of him.
Love,
Mary

You could hit the abuse button if you wanted and the admin would remove it at your request. However, I don't think it dropped too much info to make it a necessity. JMHO.

I didn't know that about the abuse button removing the post. I'll do that and remember it. As soon as I hit post I couldn't remember if it was private or not. Thanks for telling me about this.

Jemian, ABC radio is just the pits. I just drove home and on Pearl Harbor Day they had a special....on the anniversary of the death of John Lennon (which is tomorrow).

Yeah, I know. One of six knew what went down at Pearl Harbor. Sigh. Am educating, though.

I trust your check up proved you in good health? Hard to believe it's been 100 days since that hurricane, Toby, although to the folks suffering so, I'm sure it feels like a thousand.
Just invited my folks to a brunch here on Friday; I need to try out a new recipe and they are my guinea pigs :-)

Thanks for the link and the updates....I knew it was an awesome speech BECAUSE Randy Roads didn't like it :-)
She is on Err America. I listen once in awhile just so I will know what INSANE propaganda they are spouting.

Hi, hayburner. I missed the news this evening and so didn't see Condi Rice. She's always so dignified and kind; we're lucky she's on our side.
Aside from the president speech this morning, I've missed most of the news today and maybe that's a good thing :-)

Okay, here's my plan:
We back off and let men marry men, women marry women, and totally legalize abortion.
In three generations, there will be no Democrats!
Gosh!I love it when a plan comes together!
