AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1781) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | December 6, 2005 | All of Us

Posted on 12/06/2005 6:11:39 PM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

John sKerry on Disgrace the Nation answering a comment from Bob Schieffer ["Democrat Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, he takes a very different view, Senator Kerry. He says basically that we should stay the course, because he says real progress is being made. He says, 'This is a war between 27 million Iraqis who want freedom and 10,000 terrorists.' He says we're in a watershed transformation. What about that"]:

I don't agree with that. But I think what we need to do is recognize what we all agree on, which is, you've got to begin to set benchmarks for accomplishment; you've got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis, and there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the -- of -- of -- of -- historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Iraqis should be doing that.

Sadda, announced today that he will attend "an unjust court."

In Berlin, Secretary Rice stressed the United States does not condone torture.

And an Iranian military plane has crashed, killing 128.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Oh...I add celery, too.

I usually make it with whatever is in the fridge and freezer. No real recipe...I just sort of add stuff until I like the flavor.

Yes, I'm starting to keep track of that storm also...I suppose the snow amounts depend on how much moisture comes up from the Gulf with it? Sounding like TWC or the Chairman here...lol..

And further south in the Ohio R. valley....ice...UGH!

The ice is starting to dump here. Bad enough that I climbed the fence, rather than drive around the block, to get the plastic sheeting and staple gun that I had borrowed from the old frenchman, after I realized that I had forgotten it, and couldn't light a smoke inside because the wind kept blowing out my Zippo. Inside. Doors closed. More leaks than congress.

Alaska was great training.

Hi...home again briefly. I am going to mass tonight because tomorrow I will have grandchildren. They are now saying we will get 7 inches of snow tomorrow.

I wouldn't need to go to the store for this storm, except for the kids being here. I will need to get some snacks suitable for the under 10 crowd, so I will be one of those dreaded emergency shoppers tomorrow! LOL!

Thanks! When you get a chance I would like to have that recipe. I need things without meat for when my daughter comes, and also because Mr. Marple and I need some low-cholesterol recipes.

I do the same, I have a leftover pot, always have beef broth handy, I'll brown the meat, allow it to cook for whatever length of time, then add fresh or leftovers to the pot, plus seasonings, etc. Always good with cornbread.

After 4.5 hours of shopping with my dad, he chose for a Christmas gift a really pretty oil painting my mother had admired when I took her to Cafe Monet a few weeks ago; the cafe is on the side of the art gallery.

And now I'm pulling recipes in order to make scones (I've never made them before). I bought clotted cream and lemon curd yesterday at a British store downtown so hopefully that will cover any mistakes I make with the scones. A group of us are having a tea at a friend's house.

Latest missive from Ev's Company Commander:

"...... I think we were all quite surprised by the weather upon arrival. It was anywhere from 78 degrees in the day to 55 degrees when the sun went down. I know that doesn't sound bad, but the temperature drop was a little challenging for most of the soldiers.

Upon arrival we had one day to recover from the flight and then we moved right into the relief in place. Our relief in place started by conducting training ranges. There is a nice range complex right out the front door of our base camp. After a 10 days on the ranges we then started to work with the units we are relieving. If you noticed I used the plural form of unit. We have been tasked with a force protection mission that 2 different Companys were conducting. It will be quite challenging to do more with less and work long hours with little or no rest time, but that is why your soldiers were picked to conduct this mission.

I am very proud of your soldiers. During the entire relief in place they pulled together, conducted the mission and excelled at every task they were handed. Both of the Company Commanders that I was working with were very impressed by the attitude, esprit des corps, and knowledge base your soldiers displayed. They were even ready to hand over the keys early because your soldiers were doing such a good job. But the army has a process to everything and we had to see it through until the official transfer of authority date.

Some of the equipment that was left behind is not in the best of shape due to the extremes of weather and what I believe to be poor maintenance by the units we replaced. However, your soldiers have been working hard to get it back up to standard. I have been very impressed by how hard your soldiers have work to make everything better. With a little elbow grease and some good maintenance we will have this equipment back up to snuff in no time. I am already starting to see vast improvement in the equipment. I am very proud of your soldiers and I feel very honored and privileged to lead such outstanding young men. God bless."

Note from proud Mom: 78 during the day, 55 at sundown sounds like a typical Wisconsin summer day. I know one soldier who wasn't bothered at all.;^)

W. Didja catch the part about the training range right outside the front door? I thought of you & laughed when I read that.:)

Haven't heard form Ev personally in about a week so I was delighted to receive this message.

Bless her heart, D sent me to see a MD today just for a check up, that gal watches me like a eagle int he sky.

It was a 100 days today that the hurricane hit. We have 24% unemployment, 10,000 folks in Waveland alone needs housing, FEMA trailers, a lot of folks still are living in tents on their properties, but you know, they all give our Gov thanks every day. We are still in dire needs here but all will come to pass, one of these days.
